San Antonio Church, Valdez, New Mexico

San Antonio Church, Valdez, New Mexico. Back to gorgeous skies and quintessential New Mexico scenes. The little village (would be more of a hamlet in Britain), and the church of San Antonio, nestled in the valley along the banks of the Rio Hondo. So much subject matter here in this area lends itself to black and white photography. Thanks for looking. G

Fall Colors, Kebler Pass Road, Colorado

Fall colors, Kebler Pass Road, Colorado. Not far from Lost Lake, outside of Crested Butte, off the Kebler Pass Road to Paonia is this wonderful sight. The shape of things to come very soon in this area. The tips of the cottonwoods and aspen are starting to show their colors. I’m looking forward to it. I’m very fortunate to live where I do. So much of what I love and photograph is in my big back yard. Thanks for looking. G

Lost Lake, Ripples, Reflections, Colorado

Lost Lake, ripples and reflections, in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Reflections of the sun setting on the red rocks and the last glow of light on the mountain peak, with a hint of blue the pale sky, surrounded by reflections of the grey rocks and shadows. Lost Lake is a constantly changing work of art. Thanks for looking. G

Bull Elk, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Bull Elk, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Fall has definitely arrived early this year. I’d lay odds these males are in rut already. Such a wonderful time of year, and hearing the elk’s soulful bugle echoing through the mountains and canyons makes fall even more magical. Thanks for looking. G

Northern New Mexico, Evening Sky

rainbow_walking_rain_san_cristobal_8852-6032826

Northern New Mexico, one epic evening sky. In celebration of my fifteen year anniversary of posting one photo every day since September 9, 2005. I started my website with a rainbow so I thought I post a rainbow, with walking rain (virga) followed literally by the most amazing sunset a few days ago. Today we have snow and cold temperatures, so I stayed in all day. My website is my visual journal, I visit often. Thank you for joining me all these years. Onward! G

Sun, Fire Smoke, Wind, Taos Valley And Beyond

adobe_house_san_cristoal_hillside_lg_9269-2421331

Sun and fire smoke with wind across the Taos Valley and beyond. A few images from yesterday evening when smoke from Colorado, California and New Mexico filled the skies over most of the state. I had fun finding locations most of which I’m very familiar with so it wasn’t too difficult. Rather apocalyptic looking. Stay safe, be well and thanks for looking. G

Sunflower, San Cristobal Valley, New Mexico

Sunflowers in the San Cristobal Valley signifying the end of summer and start of fall. It’s beginning in the high desert of northern New Mexico. An arctic blast is heading our way tomorrow and Wednesday. Snow is also forecast where we live. Nothing new here or out of the ordinary. Snow can be expected, and often is expected, any time after labor day. Snow on the sunflowers should make for some nice images. Thanks for looking. G

Big Dipper, Ute Mountain, Wild Rivers, Moonlight

Big Dipper with Ute Mountain in the Wild Rivers Recreation Area in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. The scene is lit by the moon that rose earlier tethered to Mars in the eastern sky. I’ve added a photo below. It was very peaceful after all the people looking for campsites left the area as the campgrounds are shut due to the Covid-19 health order.  Thanks for looking. G

Mud Volcano Abstract, Yellowstone National Park, WY

yellowstone_mudhole_4407-2385515

Mud Volcano plant, an abstract in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Still traveling virtually around the west. I had to look up a few facts on Yellowstone today and got mired (sorry) in YouTube videos of the geologic features of the area and the continent in general. Fascinating stuff. I’ve added a couple more images below, one of Yellowstone Falls and one of the National Park’s famous residents. Thanks for looking. G
