Taos, Shadows, Prism, Rainbow

Taos, shadows, prism, rainbow. It’s where we live, well a little farther north and under normal circumstances we’d go to Taos two or three times a week, sometimes more. This is the end of week three spent at home. We’ve been to the store twice during that time, and made a couple of solitary drives out to photograph. We made a few trips to the Rio Grande Gorge, to stand on the rim and let the wind blow the cobwebs away. Spending this time at home, allows me to dig into projects that I’ve put on the back burner. I might get to really like it. In the country, we do solitary well, social distancing is three acres. How about you? What are you doing? I hope everyone is safe and staying healthy. Thanks for looking. G

White Abstract, Estancia, New Mexico

estancia_white_doors_1905-8395070

White abstract, Estancia, New Mexico. I thought perhaps an abstract building façade amidst all the landscape images here over the last week. In the moment I saw this, it brought to mind Agnes Martin paintings, although hers are more horizontal lines and grids. The rock, to hold the doors open, appealed to me, along with the wavy concrete line. I hope everyone is staying well. Thanks for looking in. G

Bighorn Sheep Ram, Orilla Verde, NM

Bighorn sheep. A young ram is ensconced up to his ears in the sage in the Orilla Verde Recreation Area. I got up close and personal with this young fellow on a drive through the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, New Mexico. I hope everyone is getting out in the fresh air when you can. Stay healthy. Thanks for looking. G

Rio Grande Gorge, Northern New Mexico

Rio Grande Gorge, northern New Mexico, a view from the high bridge crossing the river looking north towards Colorado. It was twilight and not the best light, but I like to document the area depicting it’s very many moods. It was the last stop on a photo tour returning from Abiquiu a couple of years ago. Thanks for looking. G

March, Rio Chama, Abiquiu, NM

March along the Rio Chama in Abiquiu, New Mexico. During this self imposed quarantine I’m touring the archives. I’m going slow, pedaling my virtual bicycle, savoring moments in images made over the last few years. Today, outside the kitchen window there were clouds and sunny skies much like this day from two years ago in Abiquiu. Be safe and please stay well. Thanks for looking. Geraint.

Roads, Southwest Style, Traffic Jam

sheep_road_block_colorado_9518-6649125

Roads, southwest style, traffic jam. This area was predominantly sheep ranching years ago. Shepherds would take their flocks from New Mexico, north to the rail heads in southern Colorado. This was a small group of about five hundred head of sheep. The truck had to wait about twenty minutes until they were past. Thanks for looking. G

Sangre De Cristo Mountain, Snows

Sangre de Cristo Mountain snows. Still a lot of snow up there a few days ago in the mountains at the New Mexico, Colorado State Line. And on a stunningly, crystal clear day for a drive during our self imposed quarantine. Home to car, to mountains and back home again. Didn’t see a soul out there, but what’s new? Thanks for looking.
