Homestead in Pilar NM. This is a fairly recent image although it looks like time stood still at the end of the last century and we happened upon it via a time travel machine. Very much of New Mexico looks a lot like this. Pilar is a vibrant hamlet on the banks of the Rio Grande twenty minutes south of Taos. There are resident artists, bald and golden eagles, beaver, otter and river rafting outfits. Come and visit sometime. Thanks for looking. Oh! … the cross shaped structure is one end of a washing line.
Bucket on a fence. Driving around Taos County one comes across some wondrous objects that often seem to have magically shown up, by their own will, festooning the landscape like an ancient colloquial code. What, or who, could possibly have determined any usage from hanging a flattened bucket on a fence post?
Lenticular clouds have been continuing for the last couple of weeks. Here’s one with the north side of Taos Mountain from San Cristobal, NM. Thanks for looking. Geraint
For the fun of it! A Chihuahua dog owning the neighborhood. I see him numerous mornings on the drive to work. Initially he barks at the car and stands his ground. When he has my attention he bolts off. In this image he is cruising in front of the Fire Department (he lives across the street) in Arroyo Hondo. Go Dog Go!
The Cellarium at Fountains Abbey, Yorkshire in the north of England. Flash back to October, 2013. “Fountains Abbey near Ripon, was founded in 1132 by 13 Benedictine Monks. It became one of the largest, richest and the most influential Cistercian abbeys in Britain.” Read more here on the BBC
Here’s another view of the “Cellarium”
Lenticular clouds before the sunset a couple of days ago. Thought I’d go back to this one. Here’s the image from two days ago.
Lenticular Clouds. I made plenty of images of this scene yesterday evening from the garden. I liked the spectacular reds, oranges and yellows of course. However, I actually prefer this exposure after the sun went down, when the light levels were much lower, and the colors more subtle with soft lavender hues. Here’s and image I made on January 22nd 2015 in Pojoaque, NM
