Lobatos steel bridge (circa 1890), crossing the frozen Rio Grande in southern Colorado. It’s cold, infact freezing cold out here. So cold the Lobatos bridge is locked in ridged, eerie silence, by the ice. We are alone under the late afternoon sky. Solitude prevails on this day, nothing exists, just us and the cold. White Bridge. A car crosses the Taos Junction bridge over the Rio Grande, it’s headlights illuminate the girders with the Milky Way overhead. Here is the Bridge in Red illuminated by the tail lights of a vehicle. Both in the Orilla Verde Recreation Area, Pilar, New Mexico, and under the starry skies of the Milky Way.

Rio Grande Colorado. Crossing the Lobatos Bridge looking downstream, the Rio Grande starts to wind it’s way through the beginnings of the low rocky canyon walls. It’s a wonderful feeling to stand on the bridge with the water moving relaxed and unhurried below when I get to ponder how many people have crossed the river at this point and who they were. And … before the bridge, did this point serve as a crossing point for pioneer wagons and prior to that the Spanish Conquistadors?
