Monsoon Afternoons, Evenings In Taos And Beyond

Monsoon afternoons and evenings in the Taos area, northern New Mexico and beyond. The more monsoon rains the merrier, saves watering the garden, keeps the woods lush and green and cools the air for the night time. Thanks for looking. G

Curly’s Cabin, Ghost Ranch, NM

Curly’s Cabin, Ghost Ranch, NM. Gorgeous skies over Curly’s Cabin used it the movie “City Slickers”. Dropped in Ghost Ranch today. I’ve been here many times but today the clouds were exceptional. The cabin was glowing and the sky was blue, like only in New Mexico. Thanks for looking. G

Sky Bird Summer Storm

Sky bird, summer storm. It intrigues me the way birds in flight always seem to be on a mission. I wonder where they are going, when will they get there and what is it that’s waiting for them. Then I see them dumpster diving at the Taco Bell and my romantic notion is shattered. Thanks for looking. G

Piedra Lumbre, Clouds In Motion

Piedra Lumbre, clouds in motion. In the red rock country in Abiquiu, NM today, on a photo tour with my good friend Harold Hall. The clouds went whizzing bye “wheee…” enjoying the ride across the sky over Piedra Lumbre (shining rock from the Spanish). The day began early, warmed up quickly, and clouds filled in the blanks over the red rock formations. Thanks for looking. G

Little House On The Plains

Little house on the plains, Capulin, NM. This little house out there in the field, befriended by a few ravens, sits alone under a brooding sky. At the time I was on our annual photo trek with my good friend Ron. We descended the plateau and spotted this place. The light was eerily beautiful although foreboding. It hailed heavily after I made this image. When the hail storm passed, a rainbow followed arcing over the Capulin Volcano. Stay tuned and thanks for looking. G

Mist Rising On Taos Mountain

Mist rising on Taos Mountain. I called this one “The Reveal” as we sat and watched the mist dissolve and later turn to snow. It was a fantastic day of interactions between the weather, the land and sky, me and the camera. Thanks for looking. G

Homestead, Tree, San Luis Valley, Colorado

Homestead with tree, on the plateau in the San Luis Valley, Colorado. Today we criss-crossed the valley looking for a view of the Blanca Peak Massif. There were some great views of the spectacular fourteen thousand foot plus peak, but I always remember to look over my shoulder. Thanks for looking. G
