Photo Touring, Northern New Mexico

Photo touring, on the road in the Valle Vidal, Northern New Mexico. My long time best friend visited this week and we spent the days traipsing around the mountains and valleys of this area. This was a particularly nice day at 10,000 feet where the aspens and some cottonwoods had the fall colors covered. I hope it’s beautiful where you are and thanks for looking. G

Aspen Light, Valle Vidal, NM

Aspen Light, Valle Vidal, (valley of life) in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico. When the trees start to turn at this elevation yesterday, (10,000 ft) they’ll go quickly. If you get a chance to make it up there in the coming week, I highly recommend it. Of course there are many other locations nearby that will be peaking very soon too! Thanks for looking. G

San Cristobal Valley Fall Highlight

San Cristobal Valley fall. The fall colors peaked in the valley about a week ago. Now the cottonwoods and aspen trees are stark white, ghosts of their former selves. Another kind of beauty in the coming season. Here’s another image of this location. Thanks for looking. G

Colors Of Fall In The Arroyo Hondo Valley

Colors of fall in the Arroyo Hondo Valley, northern New Mexico. Although I pass this spot on the map almost every day, most certainly when I go into town, it’s a joy to see the colors begin to intensify each fall to their absolute peak. Similarly, watching them fade slowly to the other end of the fall color spectrum is equally noteworthy. It has been an incredible fall in northern New Mexico and it’s not over yet. Ask anyone you meet, they’ll agree. I hope you do, and thank you, as always, for looking. G

Ojo Sarco, High Road To Taos

Ojo Sarco Valley church on the High Road to Taos. Surrounded by the tops of the colorful cottonwoods with a backdrop of the juniper and piñon hills and the snow covered Jicarita Peak. It was a splendid time to visit this area just after the first snowfall. Thanks for looking. G

Cottonwood And Snow El Prado, NM

Cottonwood and snow El Prado, Taos New Mexico. Just a few days ago. Looking out for more to come. Passing through El Prado (the meadows) there are many places to pull over with scenes like this to absorb or to take a breath of fresh air, or to make an image.  Thanks for looking. G

Valdez Valley Winter Road

Valdez Valley winter road just north of Taos at the gateway to Taos Ski Valley. Waking up to the snow this morning did the heart good following one of the driest summers we’ve had in a number of years. This first snow, in the Taos area last night, prompted us to take a drive around some of our rural neighborhoods. Coming across this scene in the Valdez Valley was like stepping into the “living” land of enchantment! Thanks for looking. G
