Amish Horse Drawn Buggy, Monte Vista, Colorado

Amish horse-drawn buggy, Monte Vista, Colorado. I added the old photo effect bringing a dated look to the shot thats mirrors the old ways. We heard the horse and buggy coming before we could see it. Can you see the swaddled baby reaching for the reins as Mom holds her safely around the waist. Here’s a little blurb on the Amish in the San Luis Valley. Thanks for looking. G

Shepherd On The Range, Southern Colorado

Modern day shepherd on the range in Southern Colorado. Camo snow gear, thick gloves, high tech snow boots, a beautiful palomino and that’s his home on the range in the left rear. The sheep and a few goats look very healthy and winter weather resistant. Temperatures dropped to 14 degrees at 4:30pm yesterday. Today was another cold day in the valley. The shepherd and his sheep were heading north right down the middle of the road. I turned off the engine, sat and watched the show. It’s slow moving but they get there eventually. Thanks for looking. In Ranchitos Valley

Came across this gentle creature in the Ranchitos Valley this evening. The light was soft and the animal’s nature seemed giving and loving. It came toward me, it wanted to get closer. I wanted to get closer. The barbed wire fence and an ice pond between us created a boundary for any further physical contact. The horse turned to it’s right, as if to show me its best side, and declared, “here I am!” In that moment, as I activated the camera’s shutter, a connection occurred, where all I could do was sigh in awe and disbelief as two souls cross the barriers in between.
