When I pick up photographers and friends visiting New Mexico, I often snap a few images, while I’m waiting or on the enroute. Again I’m playing around with another app and preoccupying myself, at least for part of the day. Thanks for looking. G
Osprey, with a fish at Heron Lake, in northern New Mexico. She looks perturbed, as if I’m going to fight her for it. Not me, but there were a number of greedy, lazy, opportunistic Bald Eagles waiting in the wings. Good girl, stay alert. Thanks for looking. G
Visit Taos, New Mexico… later, please. I posted a similar picture with these words on Facebook. They struck a cord and got shared many times over. We are a small community and things spread fast. We are taking things seriously and following CDC guidelines. We will welcome you back with open arms when things are better. The situation is here is serious right now, with the highest per capita cases for a county in New Mexico. Our state is also in lock down with 14 day quarantine orders and Taos has a curfew in place. Nothing is open, there’s no where to stay anyway. For those still wanting to flee the craziness in surrounding states please help by staying home, that way our efforts here won’t be in vain. Orphan Mesa, Ghost Ranch, New Mexico. I could go out there, it’s about an hour and a quarter drive from home, and that would be lovely, but I’m really enjoying my time at home and discovering armchair travel is just fine right now. Hope I still want to go out when all this is over… just kidding! Thanks for looking. G
El Rito, NM “the Mansion”, with sloping veranda. I love this old adobe and particularly the veranda and climbing vine. Is the vine utilizing the veranda to climb or does the vine keep everything together from ultimately collapsing. The exposed adobe and woodwork is classic. Taos, shadows, prism, rainbow. It’s where we live, well a little farther north and under normal circumstances we’d go to Taos two or three times a week, sometimes more. This is the end of week three spent at home. We’ve been to the store twice during that time, and made a couple of solitary drives out to photograph. We made a few trips to the Rio Grande Gorge, to stand on the rim and let the wind blow the cobwebs away. Spending this time at home, allows me to dig into projects that I’ve put on the back burner. I might get to really like it. In the country, we do solitary well, social distancing is three acres. How about you? What are you doing? I hope everyone is safe and staying healthy. White abstract, Estancia, New Mexico. I thought perhaps an abstract building façade amidst all the landscape images here over the last week. In the moment I saw this, it brought to mind Agnes Martin paintings, although hers are more horizontal lines and grids. The rock, to hold the doors open, appealed to me, along with the wavy concrete line. I hope everyone is staying well. Thanks for looking in. G
Sangre de Cristo Mountain snows. Still a lot of snow up there a few days ago in the mountains at the New Mexico, Colorado State Line. And on a stunningly, crystal clear day for a drive during our self imposed quarantine. Home to car, to mountains and back home again. Didn’t see a soul out there, but what’s new? Thanks for looking. Plastic wrapped window treatment in Raton, New Mexico. Sometimes I walk by a scene and I just have to make a picture. This is an image of the clouds reflecting in a window, that had tinting applied which, over time, had blistered, stretched and bubbled. Hey… thanks for looking too. G
