Sangre De Cristo Mountian clouds, San Cristobal. This is the view from our field where these strange, but not unfamiliar clouds, formed and congregated over our valley yesterday evening. I hope everyone is enjoying the beauty out there where you are. Thanks for looking in. G
Highway 285, Ojo Caliente, New Mexico. Road trips are the norm here and there’s plenty of empty roads out west in “normal” times. This trip was no different. Probably a few cars at the most. How many is a few? …five! It wasn’t too difficult to get a shot with no cars on the highway on this beautiful day with a clear sky and view. Thanks for looking. G
Sunflower pods, Moon rise, from the meadow. I just got back in and decided this image from earlier this evening, when the moon first rose over the mountains, would make a good post. The colors were pretty cool and the moon was bright when it cleared the hazy clouds. It’s a composite exposure. I shot last years sunflowers in focus in the first image and racked focus to the moon in the second. Same exposure in both images. Combined them in Photoshop®. Orphan Mesa, Ghost Ranch, New Mexico. I could go out there, it’s about an hour and a quarter drive from home, and that would be lovely, but I’m really enjoying my time at home and discovering armchair travel is just fine right now. Mars, Jupiter and Crescent Moon conjunction bright and early this morning from the deck in San Cristobal. A quick look out the bedroom window at 5am. Then out to the deck for this grouping. Mars was clearly discernible and I could just make out two of Jupiter’s moons. Saturn was out there too, way east of the group. I’ve added a shot below. Thanks for looking. G
Supermoon, Crow Moon, rising over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, New Mexico. Also known as the Worm moon, Sap moon, Crust moon, or Maple Sugar moon! This was yesterday evening from the deck. It was so bright it kept me awake for about thirty minutes! Then some clouds drew the drapes on the night and I was out like a light. Below is the moon setting over the plateau, early this morning from the deck. Thanks for looking. G

Venus, crescent moon conjunction, during a break in the storm today, from San Cristobal, NM. It was a beutiful sight to see as the clouds parted and the sky cleared. Right now the snow is coming down all soft and fluffy, the kind you want to catch on your tongue. Thanks for looking. G
Waning (4%) crescent moon rising over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains bright and early this morning. I was surprised to see it as there were those clouds. While I was setting up the the tripod in the driveway, the clouds moved aside revealing this sliver of the moon. It disappeared back into the clouds for another ten minutes, emerging above the linear clouds. Thanks for looking. G
