Stormy Skies, Taos Mountain

Stormy skies and Taos Mountain feature in this familiar view of the mountain and cottonwoods in El Prado, NM. I like the eyes created by patches of sunlight on the mountain looking back at me. Thanks for looking. G

Clearing Storm, Sangre De Cristo Mountains, NM

Clearing storm, on the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, of northern NM. I don’t have to go very far from home to see a scene like this. It’s just a short walk down to the lower acreage. After a night of rain, that continued throughout today as well, it was great to watch the lingering clouds gradually lift and work their way along the ridge lines. When a momentary shaft of sunlight lit up some of peaks, I made a few images and called it a day. Thanks for looking. G

Sangre De Cristo Foothills, Lama, NM

Sangre De Cristo foothills, near Lama, NM. We caught the end of the day’s light as the sun peeped out from a letterbox opening on the horizon. Besides the lighting, the landscape was looking very lush and a little bit tropical during this summer’s monsoons. Not to bad for an area that burned 22 years ago in the “Hondo Fire”. Thanks for looking. G

Rabbitbrush and Storm Cell

Rabbitbrush and storm cell, east of Tres Piedras, New Mexico. On a wonderful photo tour Labor Day weekend. I love my job. Thanks for looking. G

Ghost Ranch Corral

Ghost Ranch Corral, a movie set in Abiquiu, New Mexico. A quick snap before the thunder and lightning storm hit and we had to get back in the car. Being the tallest thing out there hanging on to a tripod with a cable release is about as smart as a golfer running for cover clutching a nine iron. A beautiful day with a moment of sanity thrown in. Thanks for looking. G

Isolated Storm Cell

Isolated storm cell approaching San Cristobal and points north. One of those moments where I just have to pull over and watch what happens. I always make an image, for the record, but didn’t think this one would have much impact at this point. When I awoke this morning I heard my wife exclaim “look how green things are”! The fields and grass were noticeably brighter. This one had become an overnight ground soaker. Thanks for looking. G

The Meadows, Taos New Mexico

The Meadows, Taos, New Mexico. I don’t go to my bank very often. I do my banking on line. But when I do this is the view I see as I pull out on to US Highway 64 in El Prado (the meadows) just north of Taos. Beyond the summer greens of the line of red willows is Taos Pueblo land. From here the view is unobstructed to the Columbine – Hondo Wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Thanks for looking. G

Highway Lightning Strike, Hondo Mesa

Highway lightning strike, on the Hondo Mesa, Taos NM. Right now it feels a bit like Wales on the mesa. This system brought a lot of rain, a real good ground soaking rain. Thanks for looking. G

Rainbow Panorama Of Yesterday’s Image

Rainbow panorama of yesterday’s image. Thought I would reveal the wider view that I saw. I have a little confession! I made these images ten years ago. Again, I found them whilst looking through the archive for another image for an art director. Thanks for looking. G

Rainbow Prism Sangre De Cristo Mountains

Rainbow prism in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico. The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow folklore is overrated. The rainbow is the golden payoff. This scene reminded of of the rainbow prism on the Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon album. Thanks for looking. G
