Sun, Fire Smoke, Wind, Taos Valley And Beyond

Sun and fire smoke with wind across the Taos Valley and beyond. A few images from yesterday evening when smoke from Colorado, California and New Mexico filled the skies over most of the state. I had fun finding locations most of which I’m very familiar with so it wasn’t too difficult. Rather apocalyptic looking. Stay safe, be well and thanks for looking. G

Summer Sunsets, Fiery Skies, Northern New Mexico

Summer sunsets and fiery skies, in northern New Mexico. Three photos today. One of the smokey sunset yesterday evening followed by the fiery ball of the sun setting shortly thereafter. The third image is one I came across from 2011 that I shot from my parking lot incorporating the left over rain puddle. Stay safe every one and as always, thank you for looking. G

Solitary Tree and Sun Fog

Solitary tree and the sun appearing as a disk through the fog. Although the fog was moving rapidly to the south (to the right of frame) it gave the impression that the sun was traveling at a high rate of speed northwards until the tree, motionless, reined it in. I could have watched it, mesmerizingly, four an hour. But standing in the road, entranced by this scene was not a good idea. Thanks for looking. G

In The Shadow Of The Sun

In the shadow of the sun at San Rafael, La Cueva, NM. Today’s photo is from the rear side of the church in yesterday’s photo of the day. I thought I would complete the experience we encountered in this beautiful location. I could post the third photo from that day of a Prairie Rattler, near this spot, that warned me to be aware, but you can see that image here on Facebook. Thanks for looking. G

Sun Through The Mesa Clouds

Sun Through The Mesa Clouds. Drove along the rim road paralleling the Rio Grande Gorge this morning. Taos, across the gorge is just beginning to emerge in the space between mesa and sky. Followed by a beautiful day and great image making on a photo tour in Abiquiu, NM. Thanks for looking. G

Morning In The Valley

tree_horse_fog_san_luis_valley_0842_1062_1064_1-6507030
Morning in the cold and frosty valley with the sun beginning to break through the heavy fog. It would be a while before things cleared. In the meantime we get to watch the horse stir itself and mosey along nudging clumps of snow for any fodder.

Morning Fog Lifting, Arroyo Hondo, NM

Driving into Taos through the hamlet of Arroyo Hondo, NM, the fog rolls in heavily. The valley is heavy with fog and getting thicker as I descend and cross the Rio Hondo. Continuing south, the road started to climb out of the valley, the fog thinned, the sun revealed its ghostly self, the trees showed their colors on the hillside and I pulled over on the shoulder to make this image. Thanks for looking. G
