Church in Chacon, New Mexico

Church in Chacon, northern New Mexico. Flashback to fall 2014 … you can tell by the fluffy white clouds. I found this image while perusing my hard drives for another image. It consists of four images shot top to bottom and stitched together to make a large vertical panorama. I also like that there is a door in the building, halfway to heaven. Thanks for looking!

Ute Mountain Clouds

ute mountain cloud
Ute Mountain, is a free standing extinct volcano in northern New Mexico rising 3000 feet above the valley floor on the Colorado border. It’s distinctive shape looms on the plateau and can be seen from many miles in any direction. It is a focal point landmark in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. In this image it is shrouded in cloud and can often be seen celebrating its own weather system.

Cerro Pedernal Sunset

Cerro Pedernal Sunset, from the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Taos, NM. Cerro Pedernal has possibly been photographed and painted, more than any other feature of the southwest landscape. Since “god” told Georgia O’Keeffe that it would become her mountain if she painted it enough, the peak, also known for the flint used in native tools, took on it’s own celebrity. The ‘peak’ can be seen, prominently, from many locations around northern New Mexico. When I am in Abiquiu, I can see the location where I made this image. Georgia O’Keeffe had the same view but I haven’t seen a painting of it! Here is a view from the Morada in Abiquiu across the plateau to Taos Mountain.Cerro Pedernal sunset from taos new mexico
