Eagle Rock Lake, Moonrise, Questa

Eagle Rock Lake, Moonrise, Questa, New Mexico. This beautiful location is just up the street from our house, so on my way home last night I popped in and made a few shots. That’s the last of the ice in center screen, although it maybe around for a little while yet. Stay warm and well. Thanks for looking. G

Rio Grande, Blanca Peak, Colorado

Rio Grande, Blanca Peak, Colorado. Crossing over the Rio Grande this evening on the Lobatos Bridge, afforded us this beautiful view of the river north to the Blanca Massif. It was great to get out on the dirt back roads and not have to negotiate snow and mud. Thanks for looking. G

Sunrise, Sangre De Cristo Mountains, NM

Sunrise, Sangre De Cristo Mountains, NM. I’m rarely up for a sunrise. In fact I’m hardly ever up for a sunrise. I can usually see it from the bedroom window! I photographed this sunrise because I’d got up to “shoot” the Moon that morning with Mars. This occurred shortly after Mars emerged from behind the Moon. As I was already up I grab this little scene. As always, thanks for looking. G

Pinto Pony, Llano De San Juan, New Mexico

Pinto pony, Llano De San Juan, New Mexico. Just off the High road to Taos, out of Peñasco is the hamlet of Llano. It is a favorite stop on the High road to Taos photo tour. This pinto/paint was the warmest looking creature around. Suffice to say, as we descended Highway 518 into Taos, the temperatures warmed up resulting in yesterdays photo of the day. Thanks for looking. G

Sliver, Crescent Moon, Sangre De Cristos, NM

Sliver, of a crescent moon, rising over the Sangre De Cristo foothills, this morning in San Cristobal, NM. The moon rose shortly before the sun rose, so it was fairly difficult to see… until I under exposed the bright area of sky, then low and behold, this was what presented itself. Temps were around 20ºF at 6:55am, so as much as I enjoyed the moment, I was happy to retreat to the kitchen for a hot cuppa tea! Thanks for looking. G.

Cottonwoods, Aspens, Mountains, San Cristobal Valley

Cottonwoods, Aspens, Mountains, San Cristobal Valley. It’s all about the light and I like to focus on any scene that lives up to that phrase. Here in northern New Mexico the light is everything. This scene I’ve photographed many times always catches my eye as I drive by on my way home. Thanks for looking. G

Sangre De Cristo Mountains, Last Light

Sangre De Cristo Mountains, last light from the Arroyo Hondo Valley, NM. On the drive home this evening we pulled over a few times. When the sun had set, the light levels on the mountains gave “twilight” a whole new meaning. Thanks for looking. G

First Snow, Rim Road, Arroyo Seco, NM

First Snow, Rim Road, Arroyo Seco, NM. It’s coming again in a couple of days, more snow. This image was from last week, a real pretty snow fall, and crisp clear light. Thanks for looking. G
