Northern New Mexico, one epic evening sky. In celebration of my fifteen year anniversary of posting one photo every day since September 9, 2005. I started my website with a rainbow so I thought I post a rainbow, with walking rain (virga) followed literally by the most amazing sunset a few days ago. Today we have snow and cold temperatures, so I stayed in all day. My website is my visual journal, I visit often. Thank you for joining me all these years. Onward! G

Sunflowers in the San Cristobal Valley signifying the end of summer and start of fall. It’s beginning in the high desert of northern New Mexico. An arctic blast is heading our way tomorrow and Wednesday. Snow is also forecast where we live. Nothing new here or out of the ordinary. Snow can be expected, and often is expected, any time after labor day. Snow on the sunflowers should make for some nice images. Thanks for looking. G

Summer sunsets and fiery skies, in northern New Mexico. Three photos today. One of the smokey sunset yesterday evening followed by the fiery ball of the sun setting shortly thereafter. The third image is one I came across from 2011 that I shot from my parking lot incorporating the left over rain puddle. Stay safe every one and as always, thank you for looking. G

Pines, Forest Road 493, on the back roads in northern New Mexico. I can almost hear the little tree saying, “will I be like you when I grow up?” Many trees in this area were wiped out in the Hondo Fire in 1996. Those that survived stand tall. New growth has definitely begun and in the fall the burn area is a most spectacular array of golds, reds, yellows, greens and many tones of rust colors. Thanks for looking. G

Talpa Chapel, Black Cross, Clouds, Sky. The chapel of Nuestra Señora de San Juan de los Lagos Talpa, New Mexico. Thirty five years ago I used to live very near to this chapel and was able to hear the bell ring for various masses and feast days. I heard similar sounding bells in many small European villages. We are not that distant from our cousins, I can hear it in the bells. Tomorrow I’m heading up the high road to Taos. A photo tour trip on the high road was guaranteed at least 6 times a month before Covid 19. Tomorrow will be my first trip on the high road since the first week of March this year. I’m looking forward to slightly cooler temperatures and fresh mountain air. I’ll drop in at this location for old times sake. Thank you for looking. G

Taos Mountain, with a summer rainbow, Taos, NM. Delving in to the rainbow archive this week, I found this almost a tandem double rainbow. I’m saving gas not driving around Taos to capture more rainbows. I’ll start a campaign on current rainbows next week. Thanks for looking commenting and complimenting my work. Satellites, Comet, Sky, Volcano, Stars, northern New Mexico. It’s supposed to be clear up tonight, so I’m heading out. We’ll see what transpires. There’s a lot of space junk cluttering up the skies. The satellites in the second photo are composited from seven images taken over an 8 minute time frame. I’m sure that I use plenty of the technology they provide, so I’ll take it. It’s only a flick of the cloning tool away from eliminated in Photoshop® should I so choose. Thanks for looking. G

Ute Mountain Road, Northern New Mexico. I pulled over here a couple of evenings ago for a cup of tea and to watch the rain move through the area after a day on the road photographing around northern New Mexico and southern Colorado.
