Guadalupe, Home, Servilleta, New Mexico

Guadalupe, painted on a home in Servilleta, New Mexico. On a photo tour last week, in a convoy, on roads less traveled in northern New Mexico. Join us, it works and social distancing is easy in your car and at each location as you’ll want to get a different shot from other photographers anyway. Thanks for looking. G

Los Ojos, San Jose Church, Brazos Cliffs, NM

Los Ojos, San Jose Church, Brazos Cliffs, NM. Here’s another shot from a drive I made last week. The shadows pass across the valley, a rolling wave of light. The Brazos Cliffs, guardians of the eastern approaches and one of my personal, favorite views in northern New Mexico. Thanks for looking. G

Dance Hall, Petaca, New Mexico

Dance Hall (formerly), in Petaca, New Mexico. It is now part of a residence of a sweet lady I met who has a long history here. She also had plenty of time to share that history with me on her way out to put gas in her pickup truck. As you can imagine there’s a lot of history that this 83 year old woman could share. In brief she told me, her family lived close by and that she was grateful for that.  Thanks for looking. G

Ute Mountain, Tree, Clouds, Sunset

Ute Mountain, tree, clouds, sunset. Below is one of many images from my afternoon and evening drive yesterday. I was headed to the aspen groves to make some images of green trunks, new growth and rustling new leaves. The area was closed for Elk calving until July 25th. Onward! As is often the case, a carefree attitude is rewarded with sublime moments. Yesterday was a good day for an outing and some fun images like this mountain halo. Stay tuned. Thanks for looking. G

Glyphs, Signs, Rio Grande Del Norte

Glyphs, signs, an encrypted language, lines of code? in the Chaco Culture National Historical Park, NM. I have no clue what, who, or why? It spoke to me so I made an image! Thanks for looking. Be safe out there this weekend. G

Signs Of The Times, Vallacitos, NM

Signs of the times, Vallacitos, New Mexico. Following on from yesterdays lightheartedness we visited Vallecitos today. A former mining town, in north central New Mexico, it has a unique charm all of it’s own. Thanks for looking. G

Claret Cup Cactus, Carson National Forest, NM

Claret Cup Cactus growing all around in the Carson National Forest, northern New Mexico. Took a hike yesterday with my son in the foothills close to San Cristobal. He spotted this beauty under a pine tree. We also have a nice grouping under the pine tree in our garden. Beauty to behold at this time of year in the high desert. Thanks for looking. G

American Creek, Moreno Valley, New Mexico

American Creek, in the Moreno Valley, northern New Mexico where the stars in the sky reach down below your feet. I created this composition to capture the feeling I get when standing in the vast wide open spaces in New Mexico. That was then. Now the few apps I use on my phone give me a virtual reality view of the sky dome above and below my feet and every which way I care to look. Thanks for looking. G

Horses, Together, Apart, New Mexico

Horses, together, apart, at the Colorado state line in northern New Mexico. This has nothing to do with the social distancing that we’ve become so abruptly used to. This old pony with the dreadlocks stank to high heaven. His fellow companions in the pasture seemed to be aware of it too. Space is a beautiful thing. Thanks for looking. G

Tree, Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument

Tree in the Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument an area within the Taos Plateau volcanic field. It is an exceptional area and perfect right now if you want to roam alone. From here you can see a hundred miles north to the snow capped peaks of the Rocky mountains in Colorado. If you prefer solitude to crowds this is the place to be. As you may have gathered distancing here is easy. Check out this link for more info on this area. Thanks for looking. G
