Raven, approaching storm, Taos Plateau. Busting out of here! Stopped to get a shot of the storm clouds building across the plateau when this raven blasted through the scene. Thanks for looking. G

Top Of The World, Rio Grande Del Norte, National Monument

Top of the World, Rio Grande Del Norte, National Monument. This day 04-04-16, four years ago. I’d just bought my fifth Toyota 4 Runner, (I love 4 Runners), so Pami and I took it for a days drive through the National Monument. During the 100+ miles we covered, some roads were passable, others heavily rutted with mud. We did make it up this hill with no problems and have done so many times since. It has great views in all directions, especially the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the north and east. I know it’s not exactly the top of the world, but it feels like it and incidentally, you can see “The Top Of The World Farm” on the New Mexico, Colorado state line from here. When things get back to normal, join me on a photo tour in the Rio Grande del Norte, and I’ll show you around this area. Thanks for looking. G

Petroglyphs, Rio Grande Del Norte, National Monument

Petroglyphs on a story rock panel, Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument. There are many more “peckings” on this rock, located alongside the great river in the Wild Rivers Recreation Area. This image shows Mule Deer and Bighorn Sheep. Below the first image is a photo of a Bighorn Sheep, also photographed in the gorge. The indigenous peoples would have documented the wildlife in the area and this rock has an array of footprints pecked onto it also. When things get back to normal I encourage you to make a trip here. Thanks for looking. G

Rio Chama Overlook, Abiquiu, NM

Rio Chama overlook, in Abiquiu, NM. Lets stay in this area one more day. It’s greening up in northern New Mexico. It’s not looking quite like this just yet but it’s getting there. That means spring is here and that’s a good thing. I can feel the days warming up, with milder evenings where the wind has second thoughts. This place on the Rio Chama is a favorite stop on many photo tours. You can see why. Thanks for looking. G

Rio Grande Gorge, Northern New Mexico

Rio Grande Gorge, northern New Mexico, a view from the high bridge crossing the river looking north towards Colorado. It was twilight and not the best light, but I like to document the area depicting it’s very many moods. It was the last stop on a photo tour returning from Abiquiu a couple of years ago. Thanks for looking. G

Roads, Southwest Style, Traffic Jam

Roads, southwest style, traffic jam. This area was predominantly sheep ranching years ago. Shepherds would take their flocks from New Mexico, north to the rail heads in southern Colorado. This was a small group of about five hundred head of sheep. The truck had to wait about twenty minutes until they were past. Thanks for looking. G

Ute Mountain, Rio Grande Gorge, Northern NM

Ute Mountain, with the Rio Grande Gorge, northern New Mexico. A quick cell phone photo on a photo tour/workshop last week. At this point the photographer I took out was flying his drone. I enjoyed having both feet on the ground but his images had a spectacular elevated perspective. I’ll see if I can share them in due course. Now I want a drone. Thanks for looking. G

Eagle Rock Lake, Moonrise, Questa

Eagle Rock Lake, Moonrise, Questa, New Mexico. This beautiful location is just up the street from our house, so on my way home last night I popped in and made a few shots. That’s the last of the ice in center screen, although it maybe around for a little while yet. Stay warm and well. Thanks for looking. G

Woodland Moment, Carson National Forest

Woodland moment, in the Carson National Forest, northern New Mexico. Just a short pause on the trail for this little scene. Not sure I could ever find it again. Maybe I stopped to get a breather. This is what a breath looks like for me, then onward. Thanks for looking. G

Minimalism, In The Winter Woods Today

Minimalism, in the winter woods today. This solitary shrub drew me deeper in until it was the only thing. Then I made this picture. Thanks for looking. G
