Meadow grasses, summer looking like fall colors in San Cristobal. I’ll be weed eating this lot soon. I’ll enjoy them until then. Thanks for looking. G

Bricklaying, New Mexico style. I can’t say whether this is good or bad bricklaying. I’m assuming it is awaiting a finished surface. Who knows? However, it didn’t look out of place in Tucumcari, NM. Thanks for looking. G
Portrait of a friend, Stanley Rawlings, Derbyshire, England 1982. I recently came across this image that I made of my old friend. In the mid to late seventies this man taught me the techniques of black and white photography. He and I built a darkroom in his basement’s former coal cellar. I spent many an evening down there developing negatives and making prints, often ending the night drinking Stan’s homemade elderberry, nettle, or dandelion wine. I still refer to it as “Chateau Stanley.” Stan taught me how to see, and how to apply my vision to photography. Stanley drove a twin carb, Triumph Dolomite, far too much horse power for him. That said, he piloted us on many occasions, around the Yorkshire Dales, the moors, the coast and beyond. At the time I was using a Russian made Zorki camera. Shortly after that I graduated to a Canon AT1. This portrait of Stan was made on a pre WWll Rollei, Twin Lens Reflex, that spent more time in the repair shop than it did making images. I’m glad I got to use it on this photo of Stan. He’d be proud, as I am of him. Thanks for looking. G
Indian Paintbrush and approaching storm in the Valle Vidal, NM. Got down on the ground for this one. The iPhone works well for that and reviewing images on the larger screen for composition and framing on photo tours. It has been a month of trips in the mountains where it has been so lush, green and sparkling with wildflowers. There are no signs of it changing soon. Want to go to the mountains? Thanks for looking. Rainbow rain, San Cristobal. It was a true ground soaker day of rain yesterday. The sun vanished about 2pm and didn’t return until this moment around 8pm. The air and ground and grasses where pristine following the rain. My car is also nice and clean! Thanks for looking. G

Driftwood, inland beach, San Luis Valley. Eastdale Lake (reservoir) is a body of water in the San Luis Valley attracting wild life, water fowl, birds and photographers. I got an invite from the land owner to visit this area. It has been fascinating and a privilege to watch the lake fill up with water this spring and summer and observe the creatures it attracts. So far I’ve seen Canada and snow geese, sandhill cranes, deer, wild horses, blackbirds, killdeer, heron, hawks and seagulls. Oh!… and driftwood from a previous high water mark. Life in the valley continues. Stay tuned and thanks for looking. G
Root burl in the woods. Patterns of nature and providing habitat for many creatures long after the tree is dead. Thanks for looking. G
Sun star, bursts over the rim of Canyon De Chelly, and White House Ruin. Got to get back there again soon to this magical place in Arizona. Stay tuned for more images as I process more from this spring’s trip to the four corners. Here’s a cell phone shot of the canyon wall I posted on that visit just before the sun appeared on the scene. Thanks for looking. G
Penitente Morada and sky, in Abiquiu NM. I never tire of this beautiful, iconic landmark and architectural gem in New Mexico. It sits perfectly on a bluff, above everything, overlooking Abiquiu and the Chama River Valley. I’ve found my peace in this location and many other locations like it in New Mexico. Here’s a photo I made on my first trip here in 1984. Thanks for looking. G
