San Antonio Church, Valdez, New Mexico

San Antonio Church, Valdez, New Mexico. Back to gorgeous skies and quintessential New Mexico scenes. The little village (would be more of a hamlet in Britain), and the church of San Antonio, nestled in the valley along the banks of the Rio Hondo. So much subject matter here in this area lends itself to black and white photography. Thanks for looking. G

Adobe Chapel, Valdez, New Mexico

Adobe Chapel, iron work crosses and gates in the Valdez Valley, northern New Mexico. Driving around this last week I added a number of images I filed under New Mexicana. The blue skies and abundant fall colors enhanced numerous locations. I love where we live! Thanks for looking. G

Snow Plant, Valdez NM

Snow plant, Valdez NM. I think I will rest here a while, until spring comes. I feel a lot like this plant. Gathering energy, ready for bursting out like its buds in spring time. This image was in Valdez at the San Antonio Church, one day following a snow storm. Two feet of snow around the neighborhood covered most everything. Today, after temps in the mid fifties, most of the snow is gone. Thanks for looking. G

Valdez, New Mexico, Church Of San Antonio

Valdez, New Mexico, the Church of San Antonio in this little mountain village. The snow piled up during the last snow storm. A local in the village told us that they measured 28 inches of snow during the last storm. Some of it has been pushed up against the corner of the building. The rest of the snow is fast turning the dirt roads to mud! Welcome to New Mexico in the spring. It is a beautiful building, proudly attended to by the members of the community of Valdez. Thanks for looking. G

Valdez Valley Winter Road

Valdez Valley winter road just north of Taos at the gateway to Taos Ski Valley. Waking up to the snow this morning did the heart good following one of the driest summers we’ve had in a number of years. This first snow, in the Taos area last night, prompted us to take a drive around some of our rural neighborhoods. Coming across this scene in the Valdez Valley was like stepping into the “living” land of enchantment! Thanks for looking. G
