Ute Mountain, Cattle Hay Trough

Ute Mountain and a hay trough, with no cattle. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen cattle at this dispenser. It’s been here for a long time and I pass it often. It sits here somewhat lonely, forlorn looking. I’ve never stopped to photograph it, but on this day, what with the clouds, sky and all, I pulled over. I watched the shadows pass across the fields and over Ute Mountain, highlighting the feeder, dwarfed by the big sky. Black and white seemed like a good idea. Thanks for looking. G

Earth, Sky, Mountain Lake

Earth, Sky, reflecting in the lake. Here’s a favorite poem.

“Clambering up the Cold Mountain path,
The Cold Mountain trail goes on and on:
The long gorge choked with scree and boulders,
The wide creek, the mist-blurred grass.
The moss is slippery, though there’s been no rain
The pine sings, but there’s no wind.
Who can leap the world’s ties
And sit with me among the white clouds?”

Wolf Moon, Waxing Crescent, Sunset

Wolf Moon waxing crescent, sunset, from the driveway, San Cristobal. It’s not far from the house for a great view in all directions. This view was to the southwest shortly after the sunset. I’m looking forward to the super moon eclipse on January 20-21, 2019. Stay tuned and thanks for looking. G

Earth And Sky, Abiquiu, New Mexico

Earth and sky. The Penitente Morada under a northern New Mexico sky in the Village of Abiquiu, just up the hill from Georgia O’Keeffe’s home and studio. This image is from a full day photo tour a few weeks ago in Abiquiu and the Chama River Valley. The dramatic skies continue, which is great for adding drama to the landscape and iconic architecture of New Mexico. If you would like to spend some time photographing in this most beautiful area, check out my photo tour page. Thanks for looking. G
