Reflections On The Red Brick

Reflections on the red brick Albuquerque, NM. You’re walking around looking for signs of life, architecture, or anything for that matter, then you come across something right under your feet. The sun reflecting off a window on to the red bricks in the courtyard at San Felipe de Neri church, Albuquerque, NM. Thanks for looking. G

Golden Aspens Monarch Pass, Colorado

Golden Aspens Monarch Pass, Colorado. On the road today in southern Colorado we came across this grove of golden aspens. We were very surprised to see the tree colors turning… fall is upon us! Thanks for looking. G

Full Moon Setting, San Cristobal, NM

Full moon setting, over the plateau west of San Cristobal, NM. I went out early to watch this moment a couple of days ago. The orbits of the celestial bodies remain a constant, by which all else can be reckoned. Thank goodness for that. Life is good. Thanks for looking. G

Valley Store, San Cristobal

Valley Store, San Cristobal, New Mexico. I can drive around the block and find a little treat of some sorts. Even though the store is closed, it is still available for a steely snapshot against a northern New Mexico sky. Thanks for looking. G

Hollyhocks At The Salman Ranch Store

Hollyhocks at the Salman Raspberry Ranch Store, La Cueva, New Mexico. The color makes them look almost delicious enough to eat, like the raspberry chocolate they sell in the store just over my shoulder. Yes… we purchased some raspberry fudge, it didn’t make it home. Later, when reviewing the image, I thought they looked as if they were ponying up the bar! Thanks for looking. G

La Luna Rising Over The Sangre De Cristos

La Luna rising over the Sangre De Cristo Mountains tonight. Some folks think that some kind of warm colored moon at this time of year makes it the”Harvest Moon”. Sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn’t. The color of the moon is insignificant to the fact that it is a “Harvest Moon”. The closest full moon to the fall equinox is the “Harvest Moon”. Ergo, the fall equinox is on or around September 22nd, the October 5 full moon will be the official “Harvest Moon”. That said, EarthSkyNews posted this today regarding tonights moon. Thanks for looking. G

Full Moon Rise Tonight San Cristobal, NM

“Nearly” full moon rise tonight over San Cristobal, NM. I stepped out into the cool evening air just when a ghost of a moon rose over the Sangre de Cristo foothills. As “la luna” made it’s way skyward, some clouds moved in creating a mystery around it’s silent ascent. Late tonight the clouds may disperse and the light of the moon will illuminate the whole interior of our house … no night lights needed. Thanks for looking. G

San Acacio, Colorado

San Acacio, Colorado homestead. I’ve made many images of this building and have been watching it’s demise through the years. This image below is from 2007. I first made it in color but I like the black and white in this instance. And this image is from August 2016. Last month the winds had taken even more of a toll on the structure. Some time in the next week I’ll be back up there again. I’ll let you know how it’s holding up or if it isn’t, either way! Thanks for looking. G

Through The Veil Of Decay

Through the veil of decay, two crosses. The irony here? This little chapel is undergoing a restoration. When I first visited the building many years ago, there was graffiti on the walls, inside and out, empty liquor bottles, remnants of a campfire and an invite from a few locals to “hang out”. I declined the offer and moved on. The restoration from the ashes of time, is a dedication, a reverence for the traditions by those involved, and makes a change from the alternative I encountered long ago, so prevalent in so many cases. Thanks for looking. G

Yellow Poppy Pod, Crested Butte, Colorado

Yellow Poppy Pod, Crested Butte, Colorado. I liked the minimalism of this scene. The opened poppy and the unopened pod, a reflection of what is, what was, and what it is to become. Thanks for looking. G
