Jemez Mountains Sunset, Crescent Moon

Jemez Mountains sunset and crescent moon from San Cristobal, NM. I made this three image vertical stitched panorama of the sunset over the mountains. The sunset was fading fast, so when I found I couldn’t fit in the whole scene with the lens I had on the camera, rather than run into the house to change lenses, I used what I had. One, two, three and this beautiful scene was in the can. Thanks for looking. G

Sliver Of A Crescent Moon, San Cristobal

Beautiful sliver of a crescent moon with earthshine tonight, from San Cristobal New Mexico. I love the surprise and flutter in my chest that occurs when I see the crescent moon in the western sky at sunset. I’ve observed it so many times and still it continues to amaze me every time. I hope it does for you too! Thanks for looking. G

Staircase To the Top In Santa Fe

Staircase to the top Santa Fe, New Mexico. A lot of times I’m walking down the road and look to my right or left and simply make an image. This one is from a few years ago for a story on ghost tours in Santa Fe. Looks a little spooky, right? Also it looks like it doesn’t go anywhere.

Today I’ve added a new feature to my website called “My Musings” I will be offering these free PDF downloads for your enjoyment, viewing pleasure and inspiration. Please feel free to share with your family and friends or on social media. As always thank you for looking. Geraint.

Evening Fly In Bosque del Apache

Evening fly in of Sandhill Cranes in the Bosque del Apache, National Wildlife Refuge. The symmetry of these creatures makes me marvel. One minute their wing stroke is all akimbo, followed by this beautiful synchronous attitude. Thanks for looking. G

Great Blue Heron In Flight

Great Blue Heron in flight, Bosque del Apache. I hope you’ll indulge me with a few more posts from the National Wildlife Refuge. This bird obliged by flying alongside the car. It was fun to watch it’s effortless flight and steadfast purpose. It fooled me at the last, as it banked swiftly to its right and over the car. Thanks for looking. G

Javelina Tribe, Bosque Del Apache

Javelina Tribe, on the road in Bosque Del Apache. I’ve only ever seen a single Javelina in the past. These were a few of a larger tribe on this day in the National Wildlife Refuge. They came out of the brush, went into the brush, came back out of the brush and returned to the brush one more time, and then they were gone! Thanks for looking. G

Window Dressing, Farmington, NM

Window dressing, Farmington, NM. Sometimes it’s for the fun of it. Bobbing smiley faces traversing a window in Farmington. Many photo ops of fun things in this northeastern New Mexico city. Thanks for looking. G

Shadow Rails And Stairway

Shadow rails and stairway, Cuchillo, NM. I liked the decay emphasized by the shadows of the handrail creating a kind of filigree look to the scene. One of the first images I made on film in my teens, was of the long shadows cast from trash cans across the stubby shadows of a cobble stone alley in Yorkshire, England. As you can imagine it was a contrasty, high key, harsh look, the exact opposite of this softer more inviting, gentler look. Again … thanks for looking. G

Baca Park Wetlands Taos NM

Baca Park wetlands nature trail, Taos NM. The soft colors of November, fallen leaves, carpeting the trails through red willows, and cottonwood trees, with the aroma of wet sage brush and the soft sounds of fall rising throughout the valley. Thanks for looking. G

Photo Grid On The iPhone

Photo grid from the iPhone. I took a screenshot of the rows of images as they appeared in the Photos app on the iPhone. I thought it looked rather interesting as I explored the scene from a distant view to the close-up of the shadows on the steps leading up to the doorway. I’m always on the lookout for something different, and then it happens! Thanks for looking. G
