Big Sky Sunset, Northern New Mexico

Big sky sunset, across the plateau, northern New Mexico. I made a little trip south to scope out some locations for tomorrow night’s conjunction. On the way home, this happened. Thanks for looking. G

Raven Flight, Three Peaks, Tres Orejas, Sunset

Raven flight with Three Peaks, also known as Tres Orejas, and the sunset. I was waiting for the crescent moon when a couple of ravens flew by. I got the second one nicely placed. Thanks for looking. G

GMC Truck, Overland Ranch, Taos, New Mexico

GMC Truck at the Overland Ranch compound, Taos, New Mexico. No truck is an island unto itself! This familiar location with a backdrop of Taos Mountain (Pueblo Peak), always inspires a photo. I made a quick stop in here as the snow receded, it left the truck looking like it was washed ashore and stranded. Thanks for looking. G

Northern Flicker, Evening Light, Cottonwood Tree, San Cristobal

Northern Flicker in the evening light on top of the cottonwood tree, San Cristobal. I know for sure it saw the moon and planets at the same time I did. It had a slightly more elevated view over the rooftops but no closer to the cosmic events. Thanks for looking. G

Conjunction, Crescent Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Taos Plateau

Conjunction, this evening with the crescent Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn, over the Taos Plateau. Tres Orejas (Three Ears or Three Peaks) with the distant Jemez Mountains, formed the anchor for this beautiful sight. Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. A precursor to the upcoming Great Conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter on December 21, 2020. Thanks for looking. G

Last Light, Mountain Snow, Sangre de Cristos, NM

Last light on the mountain snows and cloud, Sangre de Cristos, NM. The last glimmer of light on the foothills before the sun slipped over the horizon and the warmth of the day with it. Stay warm, and healthy. Thanks for looking. G

Wild Yarrow, Adobe, Corrugation, Mora, NM

Wild yarrow, adobe wall, window, and corrugation in Mora, New Mexico. All the elements that shout out loud, “New Mexico”. If you live here you know what I mean and if you don’t, I think you get my drift. Thanks for looking. G

Plateau Road, Snowstorm, Low Cloud, Taos, New Mexico

Plateau road into the snowstorm and low cloud, Taos, New Mexico. This is how it looked yesterday afternoon when the storm moved in. Today we awoke to 3 to 12 inches of snow depending on the elevation, and deeper in the mountains which are missing in the cloud. Thanks for looking. G

Venus, Crescent Moon, Rising, Sangre De Cristo Mountains, NM

Venus and a waning crescent Moon rising over the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, northern New Mexico. I got out there early this morning, but only as far as the driveway. That’s as far as was needed. The silence was palpable save the crunching snow underfoot, and as is the case it got the coldest right before dawn and the frost built up thick on my tripod. The neighbor’s dog stirred up a couple of other hounds in the ‘hood. Happily, I was done by then and only had to walk a hundred feet to a steaming pot of tea, toast, and marmalade. Thanks for looking. G
