Zig Zag, morning shadows, in downtown Las Vegas, NM. There are a lot of quirky elements in Las Vegas to incorporate in to images. Shadows form at all times of day. We spent a good part of the day ducking in and out of alleys and doorways thrilled by the surprises we found around the next staircase, building façade, and colonnade. Thanks for looking. G
Yellow brick wall, on the road in Trinidad, Colorado. I’m not a friend of yellow, I usually avoid yellow anything, but I like the way it works in this image. I’m looking forward to a five day photo trek around many locations with my good friend and photographer Ron Richardson. We’ll be spending time in northeastern New Mexico and southeastern Colorado and will stop into Trinidad again. Shingles, Roofing, Steel, Rock, Sky. Asphalt shingles and fiber glass roofing for siding, steel girder with decoration, topped with a rock parapet wall against the sky and a lamp shadow thrown for an organic shape variation. Thanks for looking. G
Christmas decorations year round in El Rito, New Mexico. They’re a little more faded now, but I thought they added a nice touch, surrounding the doorway to this boarded up building. The main room has an intact, pressed tin ceiling and a solitary bare light bulb hanging there. All in all, this old dance hall (according to a local) has some potential for the right developer. Another local we met, proposed that we open a grocery store in the village, to which we politely declined. Anyway, as always, thanks for looking. G
In the town of Estancia, New Mexico, a mural and windows. Spent some time here last year and enjoyed the town of Estancia immensely. With no agenda, expectations or outcome in mind I had a lot of fun wandering aimlessly around making images of anything that caught my eye. Here’s one below. Here’s another, just around the corner. Tucumcari building facade orange with flower pots. What can I say? This one is from a couple of springs ago. It is a little spring like, but would also pass for Thanksgiving decor. I feel sure the flowers and the wreath will last. Thanks for looking. G
Ruins of America Trading Post, near Dove Creek. Colorado. A dollar for this photo, thanks Ron, and signs declaring, “Welcome come on in…” “Pull” ” Push” “Closed” and in the image below on the door is their motto. I’m not knocking it! It’s a fine motto. Even though the place was closed I think the chair and brooms were a nice homey touch. Oh… they also have maps and information, books, salvage, antiques, coffee and of course, BEANS!
