“Ruins Of America Trading Post” Colorado

Ruins of America Trading Post, near Dove Creek. Colorado. A dollar for this photo, thanks Ron, and signs declaring, “Welcome come on in…” “Pull” ” Push” “Closed” and in the image below on the door is their motto. I’m not knocking it! It’s a fine motto. Even though the place was closed I think the chair and brooms were a nice homey touch. Oh… they also have maps and information, books, salvage, antiques, coffee and of course, BEANS! Thanks for looking, and understanding. G

Trading Post motto… “May our motto always be that our customers enter in anticipation and leave without regrets”

Dryland Beans, Ruins of America Trading Post sign. I always thought, the numerous times I’ve passed this place, that it was the “beans” that ruined America.

  1. Brilliant. Love the motto. the shop front would have a a great entry in the W.I Glamorgan show as the art competition was a store front in any medium and entitled “shop till you drop!”

  2. We were there in 2012 and it was quite an experience. The man who owns it had his dog and mule there, and let the kids play with both. The dog rides on the back of the mule. Over the door he had screens on which he was drying apricots he’d picked from the tree behind the shop. This place is a treasure, and the fellow was quite hospitable to us. We snapped lots of photos, though not artistic like yours!

    • Thank you so much for the update, I greatly appreciate your sharing your visit with me. I think the same guy visits Taos. I pass this place often on the road, so thank you again Kyla for the story. Best regards, Geraint
