Spring Blossoms, Downtown Taos, NM

Spring blossoms, downtown Taos, NM. Spring is in full bloom and these trees in blossom are lining the streets, filling the gardens and orchards with color. We made a quick drive out today. I have to say it was a pristine spring day, one of the most glorious we’ve seen in a while. I hope your day was wonderful. Thanks for looking. G

White Abstract, Estancia, New Mexico

White abstract, Estancia, New Mexico. I thought perhaps an abstract building façade amidst all the landscape images here over the last week. In the moment I saw this, it brought to mind Agnes Martin paintings, although hers are more horizontal lines and grids. The rock, to hold the doors open, appealed to me, along with the wavy concrete line. I hope everyone is staying well. Thanks for looking in. G

Building Colors, High Road To Taos, NM

Building colors, just off the High Road to Taos, NM. I’ve always enjoyed this building when I’ve visited here in the past but on this day, unlike other days, I decided to make an image. I think the snow helped my decision by reflecting some nice fill light on to the scene making the grey tones and turquoise color pop. I actually don’t mind the decrepit nature of the shot. It’s very New Mexico for sure. Thanks for looking. G

Blue Frosty Leaves Under The Elm Tree

Blue frosty leaves under the big elm tree. As winter descends on the valley, the shortest day of the year approaches. The frost builds and the leaves turn a lighter shade of blue. It’s getting colder and zero degree temperatures are not uncommon. Stay warm! Thanks for looking. G

Illumination Bus, Taos, New Mexico

Illumination bus, Taos, New Mexico. Years ago this bus pulled into town. I have no idea who they are or what they represent. I liked the layer of snow on top and the cascading window fringes, the color scheme and the smiling, happy figures. I think the cross just happened to be there and these folks in the bus landed the from another planet. Thanks for looking. G

White Christmas Elk, Taos Mountain

White Christmas Elk, Taos Mountain. I know it’s halloween, but… christmas decorations already? Tomorrow I anticipate christmas music in the stores and restaurants. Spending time in solitude and inward reflection sits right with my Celtic nature. I have some plans for numerous days in the field with bright mornings and early sunsets. Nights out under the stars with the camera, then back to the hearth to nurse a nice glass single malt. Thanks for looking. G

Red Vine, Downtown Santa Fe

Red Vine, wall creeper in downtown Santa Fe New Mexico. Fall colors are finally showing up everywhere. I hope you can get out and enjoy the fall in your area. If you are so inclined to join me on a photo tour I’ll be glad to show you fall colors in New Mexico. I still have a few days open in October. Thanks for looking. G

Autumn Colors, Mountain Storm Brewing

Autumn colors and a storm brewing in the mountains of northern New Mexico. Well, not this year, not yet! Continuing to dig in the archives I came across this image from 2010. This view is in Des Montes just north of Taos and we’re looking at the valley directly ahead that leads to the Taos Ski area. In this shot it looks like snow in them there hills. Thanks for looking. Shapes And Colors, GMC Truck

Shapes and colors, GMC truck, Overland Ranch, Taos New Mexico. Spent sometime here on a photo tour yesterday. I made some cell phone snaps and some abstract studies. I have a notion to return with the big camera and make some extremely large images of small details in the many shapes. I’ve investigated this and numerous other classic trucks and autos, it’s about time to do it. I’m going to check out the harvest moon rise this evening, as I’ve done for many years. Here’s last years image and one from October 7, 2006.  Thanks for looking. G

Fallen Leaf, Color On The Stoop

Fallen leaf, color on the stoop. Nice big thunderstorms this afternoon with a good amount of rain, sweet, ground cooling water. Sitting by the window, the cool moist air through the screen is very refreshing. Think I’ll stay here awhile. Thanks for looking. G
