Muted and subtle colors of fall and moisture on the deck in San Cristobal, NM. The leaves… ash, aspen, locust, cottonwoods and apple are piling up and as the temperatures drop the vibrant colors turn cooler. Each morning is an affirmation of winter’s approach and a promise of springs rejuvenation. Yes I love the cool down and slow down at this time of year. Thanks for looking. G
Taos Junction on the Rio Grande. Another beautiful day again today in northern New Mexico. This image made from the Taos Junction Bridge in the Orilla Verde RA in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, is one of my favorite locations. This location always continues inspire me when I pull over and park by the river. Fall is in full swing here in northern New Mexico. Arroyo Hondo rainbow and a half. The last storm made for some nice images of rainbows and fall colors. Most of the aspens up high are done until next time, so it’s up to the cottonwoods to do their thing now. I’ll be watching and as always, thanks for looking. G

Mullen And Aspen, Us Hill, NM. On the High Road to Taos photo workshop today, stopping at all the fall color ‘photo ops’. There are many. This is a field of mullen with asters, flanked by aspen, scrub oak and chamisa.

Aspen Grove, Colorado. In the rain on the Cumbres Pass today the colors of the aspen groves were glowing through the stark white ghostly tree trunks. Thanks for looking. G
Highway 17, aspens turning in Colorado. Took a drive today over the Cumbres Pass on Highway 17 to check out the aspen colors. We found many groves turning to shades of yellow, gold and red. There are still many green groves, and then there are many groves that, in the words of the band the Eagles, are “already gone”! Thanks for looking, and if you are in New Mexico, get out there over the next week for some prime colors. G
High desert farming in the San Luis Valley, Colorado. Center pivot irrigation fields dissect the space between earth and sky. They are a stark contrast between the subtle fall colors of the high desert landscape and circular fields. Thanks for looking. G
Granite Fall Color. While the aspens and cottonwoods in the high country and Taos Valley are only hinting at fall, the more intimate locations like this crevice in the granite, on the road to Taos Ski Valley, were showing more signs of color and what’s to come. Thanks for looking. G
