Amalia, Rio Costilla Valley, New Mexico

Amalia, in the Rio Costilla Valley, New Mexico. Last week’s photo tour found us surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in northern New Mexico. The road through the Rio Costilla Valley has many places to stop and make images. On last weeks tour we stopped every few hundred yards. For the first time in a long while, I filled up a 32 gig camera card. If you’re so inclined, I would love to have you join me on a photo tour. Thanks for looking. G

Photo Touring, Northern New Mexico

Photo touring, on the road in the Valle Vidal, Northern New Mexico. My long time best friend visited this week and we spent the days traipsing around the mountains and valleys of this area. This was a particularly nice day at 10,000 feet where the aspens and some cottonwoods had the fall colors covered. I hope it’s beautiful where you are and thanks for looking. G

Ravens, Enchanted Circle, NM

Ravens on the Enchanted Circle, a scenic byway drive in northern New Mexico. This picture doesn’t do their size justice. They were very large and posed for a few images before taking off. Thanks for looking. G

Chile Ristras Ladders, El Prado, NM

Chile ristras and ladders, El Prado. Coming soon to everywhere in New Mexico. I hope you get out here to see them hanging from vigas and portals, accented against adobe walls. Quintessential New Mexico, for all the senses. Thanks for looking. G

Where I grew up chile was the country and chili is what one eats. I’ve since learned my lesson. But not until I did.

Black Mesa, San Ildefonso, NM

Black Mesa, San Ildefonso, NM. One of the most gorgeous iconic locations and one of so many in northern New Mexico. This location at San Ildefonso Pueblo is featured in many photographer’s portfolio. That doesn’t make it any less iconic as it is an area that is pristine and unspoiled and thank goodness. Come visit New Mexico and I’ll show you this and many more of these locations. Thanks for looking. G

Volunteer Fire Department Building

Volunteer Fire Department. Buildings and locations from days past in “old” New Mexico and the old stuff returning to earth all over the state. I’ve added this building, in downtown Tierra Amarilla, to the “almost gone portfolio”. Thanks for looking. G
