Harold’s House, Jaroso, Colorado

Harold’s House, Jaroso, in the San Luis Valley, Colorado. The first time I saw this house there was a matching tree to the right of the building where the stump is now. There was a large Great Horned Owl flew out of it and through the scene. I didn’t spot it until I reviewed the images later. It was sitting in the tree the whole time that I was making images. Goes to show, you never know who, pardon the pun, maybe watching. Thanks for watching. G

Penitente Morada In Abiquiu, NM

Penitente Morada, in Abiquiu, NM. I’ve been going through the archives again this week, and found a few images like this one from almost ten years ago. Long before they put up the “No Tresspassing” sign, I would walk up to the building and yes, make and image, but also spend a moment in peaceful tranquility and personal reflection. It’s a stunning location here, where this building sits, overlooking the Rio Chama Valley. I added a couple of links below of the view from here.  Thanks for looking. G

San Francisco De Asis, Journal Of Photography

San Francisco de Asis. Journal of Photography of the Saint Francis Church, Ranchos de Taos, NM. My latest piece gathered from images made over the years past. I have so many images of this most beautiful adobe building it was hard to choose the ones I did. So … some left for another volume later. Clicking on the picture will take you to the PDF download. Enjoy and as always, thanks for looking. G

Rainbow Panorama Of Yesterday’s Image

Rainbow panorama of yesterday’s image. Thought I would reveal the wider view that I saw. I have a little confession! I made these images ten years ago. Again, I found them whilst looking through the archive for another image for an art director. Thanks for looking. G

Rainbow Prism Sangre De Cristo Mountains

Rainbow prism in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico. The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow folklore is overrated. The rainbow is the golden payoff. This scene reminded of of the rainbow prism on the Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon album. Thanks for looking. G

State Line Road New Mexico, Colorado Border

State Line Road New Mexico, Colorado Border. Out where we can see for miles in all directions watching the storms build, and where shadows race down the dirt roads ahead of us, is fast becoming a favorite photo tour location and a vast sanctuary for me. Come out for July and August to a northern New Mexico and southern Colorado summer. The fires have diminished. The monsoon rains embellish the afternoons with storms and rainbows and the evenings end with a classic western sunset. Thanks for looking. G

Rainbows Over The San Cristobal Valley

Rainbows over the San Cristobal Valley. When simply heading to the mail box, or anywhere else for that matter, it is compulsory here in New Mexico to pull over and look at a rainbow. We waited for the second rainbow to fully form but the storm was moving very quickly and it didn’t quite make it. The main rainbow lasted for about twenty minutes. Not a bad way to spend twenty minutes during the day. Thanks for looking. G

“Ruins Of America Trading Post” Colorado

Ruins of America Trading Post, near Dove Creek. Colorado. A dollar for this photo, thanks Ron, and signs declaring, “Welcome come on in…” “Pull” ” Push” “Closed” and in the image below on the door is their motto. I’m not knocking it! It’s a fine motto. Even though the place was closed I think the chair and brooms were a nice homey touch. Oh… they also have maps and information, books, salvage, antiques, coffee and of course, BEANS! Thanks for looking, and understanding. G

Dryland Beans, Ruins of America Trading Post sign. I always thought, the numerous times I’ve passed this place, that it was the “beans” that ruined America.
