Signs Of The Times, Vallacitos, NM

Signs of the times, Vallacitos, New Mexico. Following on from yesterdays lightheartedness we visited Vallecitos today. A former mining town, in north central New Mexico, it has a unique charm all of it’s own. Thanks for looking. G

“Kilroy Was Here” Carson, New Mexico

“Kilroy Was Here” Carson, New Mexico. I like the surprise I get when I find out that Kilroy was already here. I remember seeing this first in 1970, in the movie “Kelly’s Heroes” with Clint Eastwood, that was set in WWII. This image is in the wild west. We all know Clint “is” the west and Kilroy will show up anywhere and always before you do. Here’s the scoop on Kilroy! Thanks for looking. G

Pottery Shards, Acoma Pueblo, NM

Pottery shards, a collection on display at one of the many vendors stands we encountered in Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico. I’ve been there the last three years in a row, this year would have been the fourth, alas! I hope to visit again soon, as soon as we are able. Thanks for looking. G

Claret Cup Cactus, Carson National Forest, NM

Claret Cup Cactus growing all around in the Carson National Forest, northern New Mexico. Took a hike yesterday with my son in the foothills close to San Cristobal. He spotted this beauty under a pine tree. We also have a nice grouping under the pine tree in our garden. Beauty to behold at this time of year in the high desert. Thanks for looking. G

Santa Rosa de Lima, Abiquiu, New Mexico

Santa Rosa de Lima, just off the highway in Abiquiu, New Mexico. I like the feeling being surround by sun-baked, crumbling adobe walls, light filling in the shadows. An afternoon storm, brings cool heavy rains, sometimes a flash flood, eroding arroyos, canyons, and these old adobe bricks. Thanks for looking. G

American Creek, Moreno Valley, New Mexico

American Creek, in the Moreno Valley, northern New Mexico where the stars in the sky reach down below your feet. I created this composition to capture the feeling I get when standing in the vast wide open spaces in New Mexico. That was then. Now the few apps I use on my phone give me a virtual reality view of the sky dome above and below my feet and every which way I care to look. Thanks for looking. G

San Cristobal Chapel, New Mexico

San Cristobal Chapel, in the Village of San Cristobal, New Mexico. We live so close, close enough that we can hear the bells ring for Mass or a funeral. I haven’t heard the bells ring out for awhile. I always remember, as a kid, hearing stories that during World War II the church bells in Britain were silent until the day war ended. That day, they rang out as never before. Stay safe and well. Thanks for looking. G

Ghost Ranch, Spring, New Mexico

Ghost Ranch is Georgia O’Keeffe Country, and spring in New Mexico is a palette of shifting colors and light. Albeit, an image from a couple of years ago, I’m looking forward to tomorrow, and an experiment in social distancing and the art of photo touring. Not a stretch, but looking for more ways to share locations in our beautiful state with visiting photographers under our current conditions. Thanks for looking. G

Carrot, Taos Plaza, Farmers Market

Carrot at the Taos Plaza Farmers Market. Something fun and timely as our farmers market is opening this coming weekend. I doubt there will be carrots for sale just yet and I doubt I will be there either. But, we do have plenty of carrots and celery for juicing at home in the pantry. Thanks for looking. G

Killdeer, San Luis Valley, Lake, Colorado

Killdeer bird, along a lake shore in the San Luis Valley, southern Colorado. These long legged, little critters weave their way along the edge of the lake, chattering incessantly as they go. They’ll lead me in a direction away from the nest and it’s offspring. Here’s more info on these little guys. Thanks for looking. G
