In The Shadow Of The Sun

In the shadow of the sun at San Rafael, La Cueva, NM. Today’s photo is from the rear side of the church in yesterday’s photo of the day. I thought I would complete the experience we encountered in this beautiful location. I could post the third photo from that day of a Prairie Rattler, near this spot, that warned me to be aware, but you can see that image here on Facebook. Thanks for looking. G

San Rafael La Cueva New Mexico

San Rafael La Cueva New Mexico. Pulled up at the church to the thrill of the reflection in a storm puddle. The standing water has always been there after the rains but the grass was so long and it was merely a swampy mess. On this trip the grass was mown and the reflection almost resembled glass. Thanks for looking. G

Reflection At The Saint Francis Church

Reflection at the Saint Francis Church … a fall morning after the rain. Got down on my knees and made this image shortly before the caretaker came along and swept up the puddles. Got to be the early bird to beat the caretaker. Thanks for looking. G

Sun Through The Mesa Clouds

Sun Through The Mesa Clouds. Drove along the rim road paralleling the Rio Grande Gorge this morning. Taos, across the gorge is just beginning to emerge in the space between mesa and sky. Followed by a beautiful day and great image making on a photo tour in Abiquiu, NM. Thanks for looking. G

Aspen Grove Colorado

Aspen Grove, Colorado. In the rain on the Cumbres Pass today the colors of the aspen groves were glowing through the stark white ghostly tree trunks. Thanks for looking. G

San José Church Los Ojos, NM

San José Church, Los Ojos, NM, stands out in the landscape and from a view across the valley has a backdrop of the Brazos Cliffs. Last weekend we dropped in to the town of Los Ojos and this time the church was very striking against the blue of a New Mexico Sky. We spent an hour browsing the town and making some images. I loved the starkness of this view with the shapes and shadows and all. Thanks for looking. G

Mercury Eight Elizabethtown

Mercury Eight Elizabethtown, northern New Mexico. It’s been here for quite some time. I wish there was a time lapse of it’s decorous demise. Throughout the years it has withstood all the elements, notwithstanding, modeling for all and sundry visitors. Thanks for looking. G

Taos Plateau Storm Moving In

Taos Plateau storm moving in. I made a little drive this evening as it was getting dark and found this far vista, like a scene from a movie. The storm wasn’t far behind. As I type this, the lightning strikes are huge and the thunder is making the house shudder and shake. The dogs are hiding under the covers. I won’t be making images of the lightning tonight. You won’t find me, the tallest thing out there in the storm, hanging on to a tripod … I am staying in. Thanks for looking. G
