San Antonio de Padua Capilla, Taos. This little chapel is one of many in the neighborhoods around Taos. I made a little trip through the old parts the day the snow began to melt when the sun came out adding some warmth to the day. Thanks for looking. G
Mule Deer family visit the San Cristobal Valley. The dishes get put on hold. Light envelops the valley and surrounds the mule deer family as they graze their way across the meadow. Everything stands still, and we watch. I hope it’s as wondrous where you are. Thanks for looking. G
Hunter’s Moon setting, Taos Plateau Volcanic Field. It was such a beautiful moon this morning so I made a cup of tea and a snack and drove a half-mile just to watch. Well, I did take my camera and enjoyed the view with my tea in the hushed, predawn light. The full “Blue Moon” occurred about two hours after I made these images. The distortion is refraction through the earth’s atmosphere. Thanks for looking. G
Red-tailed Hawk, Ranchos De Taos, New Mexico. I spent twenty minutes with this magnificent young raptor who spent the time primping and preening, grooming its feathers. I thought he was going to sit there all day. As I thought about driving off, he shook out his wings and tail feathers, had a quick poo, lifted off still pooing, and dropped out of sight. Arroyo Hondo Valley and a Mountain Moonrise, northern New Mexico. We went out to watch the moon rising and pick up some peach pie. On the way home, we stopped numerous times to photograph the moon and landscape. We pulled over in the Arroyo Hondo Valley with one of its residents enjoying a cool drink in the snowmelt and munching on some soft green shoots with the moon watching over it all. Remember the “blue moon” on Saturday, the second full moon of October. Thanks for looking. G
Moonrise this evening over the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, San Cristobal, NM. I got this quick shot out of the dining room window as the waxing moon was served up in a gorgeous pink sky. I served up a pot of green chile chicken stew, a perfect accompaniment to a cold fall evening. Thanks for looking. G
Amish horse-drawn buggy, Monte Vista, Colorado. I added the old photo effect bringing a dated look to the shot thats mirrors the old ways. We heard the horse and buggy coming before we could see it. Can you see the swaddled baby reaching for the reins as Mom holds her safely around the waist. Here’s a little blurb on the Amish in the San Luis Valley. Thanks for looking. G
Red Barn, in black and white with an unusual cloud, Capulin, Colorado. Yes, the barn is red. I like the toned black and white in this photo with that cloud that wafted across the San Luis Valley. We are hunkering down today with 18 inches of snow and still coming. Thanks for looking. G
Sunflower, all it’s sunny fires out but standing tall in the Taos Valley wetlands. I particularly like sunflowers in their decay as much as I do when they herald the beginning of August lining the highways and byways of northern New Mexico. Here, in this photo, they usher in the early throes of winter while maintaining a continuous golden glow. Snow on it’s way over the next few days. Stay warm where you are and thanks for looking. G
