Fall colors, Kebler Pass Road, Colorado. Not far from Lost Lake, outside of Crested Butte, off the Kebler Pass Road to Paonia is this wonderful sight. The shape of things to come very soon in this area. The tips of the cottonwoods and aspen are starting to show their colors. I’m looking forward to it. I’m very fortunate to live where I do. So much of what I love and photograph is in my big back yard. Thanks for looking. G

Sangre De Cristo Mountain foothills moon rise, from the kitchen window in San Cristobal, NM. A stunningly crystal clear evening with the glow of the moon on the aspen groves. The tree canopy, evident under the moon glow, will be gone very soon now. I’m predicting one more week of revelry in the fall colors of northern New Mexico before we call it done. There will be color in the valley and along the Rio Grande well into early November if you get a chance to visit it won’t disappoint. I hope your fall is going well and you enjoy being out in it. Photo touring, on the road in the Valle Vidal, Northern New Mexico. My long time best friend visited this week and we spent the days traipsing around the mountains and valleys of this area. This was a particularly nice day at 10,000 feet where the aspens and some cottonwoods had the fall colors covered. I hope it’s beautiful where you are and thanks for looking. G

Aspen Light, Valle Vidal, (valley of life) in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico. When the trees start to turn at this elevation yesterday, (10,000 ft) they’ll go quickly. If you get a chance to make it up there in the coming week, I highly recommend it. Of course there are many other locations nearby that will be peaking very soon too! Thanks for looking. G

Aspens on the High Road to Taos in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. I superimposed the aspens image I found in a grove, with a close up of stains on a window of an abandoned building. It reminded me of a close up of the aspen bark itself. I like it. What do you think? Thanks for looking. G

Hopewell Lake Aspen Moonrise. The moon rises over the aspens at Hopewell Lake off Highway 64, New Mexico. Temperatures dropped to 30 degrees late this afternoon as the aspens glowed warm in the setting sunshine. The moon, a jewel in the winter blue sky, rose silently above it all. Thanks for looking. G

Forest Road In The Sangre de Cristo Mountains

Forest road in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico. Walking around this grove I saw whole epistles carved into the tree trunks. Someone’s undying this or that. Pledges for life. Who loves who and on what date. Except the trees, they have to wear this brand for a long time until the words expand into scars no longer decipherable as any language. I wonder how many trees will outlive the relationships professed to here in the woods. Thanks for looking. G
