Mission San José de Laguna

Mission San José de Laguna. The church of St. Joseph, Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico. We stopped in here on a very cold morning. The sun’s warmth on our backs took the chill off, we began to thaw, which, in turn allowed us to stand a little taller. Here is a brief history of the Spanish Mission.

Belfry, Raven, Full Moon, Garcia, Colorado

Belfry, Raven, Full Moon, Garcia, Colorado. The almost full moon, a belfry cross and a raven tonight in Garcia, Colorado. We made an evening drive to watch the moon rise over the Sangre de Cristo mountains in southern Colorado. It turned out to be a beautiful evening with crisp winter light on this scene. I like to think the raven enjoyed the view too, but I doubt it. He sat, perched there, faffing the whole time.

Adobe Route, Free Climbing Pigeons

Adobe Route, Free Climbing Pigeons. “I got this… I got this!” at the St. Francis Church Ranchos de Taos, NM. I’m guessing here… perhaps they were eating seeds they discovered in the mud or bits of gravel for their crop. One thing I’m certain about, as I watched them work their way up the building, flying would have been the easier route to take. Thanks for looking. G

Mission Church of Santo Tomas, Abiquiu, NM

Clouds over the Mission Church of Santo Tomas in the mesa top Pueblo of Abiquiu, New Mexico. I made this image four years ago on a photo tour to Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Chama River Valley and many other locations on the road getting there. The sky on the particular summer afternoon was broken up by these wonderful cloud formations which appear to be whipped up by the very large cross. Thanks for looking. G

Holy Trinity, Arroyo Seco, NM

Holy Trinity Church is close to my Fine Art Gallery in Arroyo Seco, NM. I often make the twenty yard stroll to see how the light looks on this historic adobe building. Sometimes it’s an intense afternoon glow under the New Mexico sun, or in this case, the belfry and branches are stark against the sky on a winter’s day. Not a problem! Tomorrow, I’ll take another stroll around the corner to see what’s happening in the neighborhood. New Mexico almost always surprises me when I least expect it. Come and visit! Thanks for looking. Church in Chacon, New Mexico

Church in Chacon, northern New Mexico. Flashback to fall 2014 … you can tell by the fluffy white clouds. I found this image while perusing my hard drives for another image. It consists of four images shot top to bottom and stitched together to make a large vertical panorama. I also like that there is a door in the building, halfway to heaven. Thanks for looking!
