Saint Francis, Ranchos De Taos. Here’s a two for one of the Saint Francis Church (San Francisco de Asis) arguably the most photographed church in the USA. It is one of the most supported and well kept churches in New Mexico. It has been photographed by Ansel Adams, Paul Strand, Laura Gilpin and many more including yours truly! The most well known is probably Georgia O’Keeffe’s painting. I made this image in a rain puddle a couple of days ago. As I’ve said before, “I can’t resist a puddle!” Made on an iPhone 7 Plus. Thanks for looking. G
San Francisco De Asis Church and brooding sky in Ranchos de Taos, NM. This iconic building has been painted and photographed by many over the decades, most notably by Georgia O’Keeffe and Ansel Adams. The San Francisco De Asis Church has been immortalized, indelibly and for good. I’m always happy to visit and add to the narrative, and archive, documenting it’s many moods and looks. Thank you for looking. G
Holman Presbyterian Mission Chapel School. So I thought I’d share this image, the feature of the last couple of days images, in it’s fabulous state of decay on the road to Mora New Mexico. I’ve been visiting here for years and it’s plain to see the rapid changes that occur when the locations are left to the elements and nature has its way with them. Thanks for looking. G
Here is an historical image of this location and other missions in New Mexico and southern Colorado. This building in in the fifth segment down PDF Download
White cross on the old Truchas Mission Church … Nuestra Señora del Sagrado Rosario in Truchas, NM. It’s always a pleasure to visit this beautifully restored and maintained, architectural gem on the high road to Taos. Thanks for looking. G
Here are a few links to images of this church on the high road to Taos, in my archives.
Clouds over the Mission Church of Santo Tomas in the mesa top Pueblo of Abiquiu, New Mexico. I made this image four years ago on a photo tour to Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Chama River Valley and many other locations on the road getting there. The sky on the particular summer afternoon was broken up by these wonderful cloud formations which appear to be whipped up by the very large cross. Thanks for looking. G
