An American Kestrel juxtaposed with a sign in a drive-by shooting!

It’s the “Summer of Love” in the world of dragonflies (I think they are dragonflies) at the Shuree Ponds in the Valle Vidal, NM. There were thousands of them cavorting with one thing on their minds! Addendum, thanks to my friend Larry, these are Damselflies. There were dragonflies too!

Apricot tree, winter colors, Orilla Verde RA, Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, NM. It’s beautiful and colorful along the Rio Grande, and a perfect time for a drive through the area. The red willows add warmth, contrasting with the snow on the branches. A splendid winter day in snowy northern New Mexico. Thanks for looking. G

Aspen road, in the mountains of northern New Mexico. The aspens around Taos are in all shades from green and in some cases yellow and gold. Farther north in southern Colorado, at ten thousand feet, things are advancing fast. It is great to smell autumn in the air with moisture and cooler temperatures. Paint patina on that old Chevrolet truck in Arroyo Seco, NM. I haven’t posted New Mexico patina colors for a while so here’s one from the archive. It also has some staple stitching going on, a little touch of Frankenstein, if he, Herr Frankenstein had a truck. Would that make it a monster truck? Ghost Ranch is Georgia O’Keeffe Country, and spring in New Mexico is a palette of shifting colors and light. Albeit, an image from a couple of years ago, I’m looking forward to tomorrow, and an experiment in social distancing and the art of photo touring. Highway 285, Ojo Caliente, New Mexico. Road trips are the norm here and there’s plenty of empty roads out west in “normal” times. This trip was no different. Probably a few cars at the most. Building colors, just off the High Road to Taos, NM. I’ve always enjoyed this building when I’ve visited here in the past but on this day, unlike other days, I decided to make an image. I think the snow helped my decision by reflecting some nice fill light on to the scene making the grey tones and turquoise color pop. I actually don’t mind the decrepit nature of the shot. It’s very New Mexico for sure. Thanks for looking. G
