Paint Patina, Truchas, New Mexico

Paint patina, barn doors in Truchas, on the High Road to Taos, New Mexico. Many years ago I drove through Truchas when Robert Redford was filming the Milagro Beanfield War. This magical location still exudes the authenticity that is New Mexico. Thanks for looking. G

Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument

Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument, New Mexico. On a photo tour/workshop today, we dropped into the Orilla Verde Recreation Area of the Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument. What started out with overcast skies and grey clouds, turned out really well. Image making is the objective. Perseverance is the key. Thanks for looking. G

Taos Pueblo, Taos Mountain, Snow

Taos Pueblo, Taos Mountain, Snow. A beautiful day at the Taos Pueblo today. The light was pristine, illuminating the adobe, multi story, buildings of the North House. The ever present Taos Mountain emerges from the clouds. I hope your day was a good one. Standing in the plaza at Taos Pueblo made mine quite awesome and peaceful. Thanks for looking. G

Autumn Colors, Mountain Storm Brewing

Autumn colors and a storm brewing in the mountains of northern New Mexico. Well, not this year, not yet! Continuing to dig in the archives I came across this image from 2010. This view is in Des Montes just north of Taos and we’re looking at the valley directly ahead that leads to the Taos Ski area. In this shot it looks like snow in them there hills. Thanks for looking. Colors Brighten The Day, Arroyo Seco, NM

Colors brighten a dull overcast day in Arroyo Seco, NM. And… New Mexico colors to boot. Peeling painters masking tape, with turquoise, caught my eye. The colors in this scene were the brightest element in the village a couple of days ago during the rain and snow and mist and rain and snow again. It truly brightened my day. Thanks for looking. G

Winter Light On Taos Mountain

Winter light on Taos Mountain and the juvenile cottonwood, in El Prado, NM

In Taos it is claimed that, “the mountain accepts you or rejects you” those it accepts stay, those it rejects, leave! I believe the mountain embraces all who gaze upon it. The accepting is in the observer who unconditionally embraces what they seek. I have spent 35 years and many hours with the mountain. I have only felt the abundance of life force, in it’s presence, within me. Most of all the mountain is beautiful to gaze upon! Thanks for looking. G

Mora Valley Spinning Mill Façade

Mora Valley Spinning Mill, building façade in Mora NM. Bright colors on a bright day last April. There’s always some element directing attention to the sky. A lot of people marvel at how blue the skies actually are here in the NM. Is there a paint color named New Mexico Blue? Thanks for looking. G
