One photo this week of Taos Mountain (Pueblo Peak) in black and white. I had a longer post planned but the hosting company server crashed this morning, until an hour ago. Taos Plateau, sunset rays with storm clouds brewing. Out here in the west, we get these vast skies and expansive views that go on forever, and these letterbox sunsets are a particular feature when storms roll through. Thanks for looking. G

Downtown Taos, La Fonda Hotel, Shadows. Stopped in Taos Plaza this morning for a drive by shooting. Had to get out of the car for this one! New Mexico lends itself to images of architecture and early morning shadows. I’m not always up so early but when I am I like to cruise the empty streets for this type of shot. Of course, the sun was well and truly up before me! Thanks for looking. G
Chapel, Santa Cruz de Ojo Caliente, historic site, New Mexico. I often share my thoughts with my clients on religion, it’s core conflict and how to represent the fight between light and darkness in a picture. I include it deliberately in this photo of the Catholic church just around the corner from the Ojo Caliente Spa. Thanks for looking. G
Highway 285, Ojo Caliente, New Mexico. Road trips are the norm here and there’s plenty of empty roads out west in “normal” times. This trip was no different. Probably a few cars at the most. How many is a few? …five! It wasn’t too difficult to get a shot with no cars on the highway on this beautiful day with a clear sky and view. Thanks for looking. G
Sunset cloud, Taos Mountain. So, here’s the image that followed yesterday’s picture, ending that day. Had I thought about it I could have added them sequentially. But… I was diving in too deep when I should have been paddling around the edge of the pool. It’s a subtle image, I know, that is what I like about our mountain, it has many personas determined by the light, and as you know, we have the light here in New Mexico. March along the Rio Chama in Abiquiu, New Mexico. During this self imposed quarantine I’m touring the archives. I’m going slow, pedaling my virtual bicycle, savoring moments in images made over the last few years. Cottonwoods, Aspens, Mountains, San Cristobal Valley. It’s all about the light and I like to focus on any scene that lives up to that phrase. Here in northern New Mexico the light is everything. This scene I’ve photographed many times always catches my eye as I drive by on my way home. Thanks for looking. G
La Capilla De Nuestra Senora Del Carmen, Llano Quemado, Taos, NM. Last light fading on this iconic chapel lights up the belfry and cross. It is a beautiful piece of New Mexico architecture, representing a culture that extends back before the pilgrims landed. There’s the church of San Miguel in Santa Fe, seventy miles south of Taos, with the date of 1610 carved in a ceiling beam. Thanks for looking. G
