Taos Mountain, Red Willows, Cloud

Taos Mountain, red willows, clouds. Taos Mountain is stunning in all seasons and light. As I’m not making too many trips out, this image is from spring 2018. Thanks for looking. G

Sangre De Cristo Mountain, Snows

Sangre de Cristo Mountain snows. Still a lot of snow up there a few days ago in the mountains at the New Mexico, Colorado State Line. And on a stunningly, crystal clear day for a drive during our self imposed quarantine. Home to car, to mountains and back home again. Didn’t see a soul out there, but what’s new? Thanks for looking. Supermoon, Crow Moon, Sangre de Cristo Mountains

Supermoon, Crow Moon, rising over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, New Mexico. Also known as the Worm moon, Sap moon, Crust moon, or Maple Sugar moon! This was yesterday evening from the deck. It was so bright it kept me awake for about thirty minutes! Then some clouds drew the drapes on the night and I was out like a light. Below is the moon setting over the plateau, early this morning from the deck. Thanks for looking. G

Eagle Rock Lake, Moonrise, Questa

Eagle Rock Lake, Moonrise, Questa, New Mexico. This beautiful location is just up the street from our house, so on my way home last night I popped in and made a few shots. That’s the last of the ice in center screen, although it maybe around for a little while yet. Stay warm and well. Thanks for looking. G

Sliver, Crescent Moon, Sangre De Cristos, NM

Sliver, of a crescent moon, rising over the Sangre De Cristo foothills, this morning in San Cristobal, NM. The moon rose shortly before the sun rose, so it was fairly difficult to see… until I under exposed the bright area of sky, then low and behold, this was what presented itself. Temps were around 20ºF at 6:55am, so as much as I enjoyed the moment, I was happy to retreat to the kitchen for a hot cuppa tea! Thanks for looking. G.

Cottonwoods, Aspens, Mountains, San Cristobal Valley

Cottonwoods, Aspens, Mountains, San Cristobal Valley. It’s all about the light and I like to focus on any scene that lives up to that phrase. Here in northern New Mexico the light is everything. This scene I’ve photographed many times always catches my eye as I drive by on my way home. Thanks for looking. G

Dennis’s Tree, Moon Rise, San Cristobal, NM

Dennis’s Tree, moon rise, over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, San Cristobal, NM. My few favorite evenings of the months are around the full moon and the waxing and waning crescent moons. I hope you get out there and check out a moon somewhere near you! Thanks for looking. G

Winter Light, Tree, Mountains

Winter light, tree, mountains. My neighbor’s tree from the kitchen window. Probably my favorite sight at the end of the day as the sun catches it, all warm and glowing against the Sangre de Cristo Mountains beyond. Thanks for looking. G

Little House, San Cristobal, Mountains

Little white house, in the pasture, San Cristobal, NM. There were snow covered mountain peaks when the clouds cleared today. Pristine skies overhead. I just think, sometimes, how many days like these this homestead and it’s occupants have experienced. However many that is, the days and lives come and go in the valley, if only the mountains could talk. Thanks for looking. G

Cottonwood, Mountain Sunset

Cottonwood at sunset in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, NM. A short walk out to the old cottonwood tree and the view was all mine. I got a few shots of the snow capped peaks with an unobstructed view but I like this old cottonwood hanging out in the field. Thanks for looking. G
