Zig Zag, Morning Shadows, Las Vegas, NM

Zig Zag, morning shadows, in downtown Las Vegas, NM. There are a lot of quirky elements in Las Vegas to incorporate in to images. Shadows form at all times of day. We spent a good part of the day ducking in and out of alleys and doorways thrilled by the surprises we found around the next staircase, building façade, and colonnade. Thanks for looking. G

Red, Shadows, St. Francis Church

Red, Shadows, St. Francis Church. A lady in red leaving church in the shade of the morning shadow from the bell tower. The things and sites we see on a photo tour around Taos, the Gorge and beyond. Thanks for looking. G

Ghost Chair, Shadows, San Luis Valley Homestead

Ghost Chair, Shadows, San Luis Valley Homestead. Met the owner of this place who was very generous to let me photograph in here. Someone has ripped out the copper pipe and wiring in the house, so it felt good to build a rapport with the owner. Anyway, goodness knows what the ghosts think of the looters who come in the night. Thanks for looking. G

Adobe Shadows, Costilla, NM

Adobe shadows, Costilla, NM. There are a lot of ruins in New Mexico, but this is my favorite in Costilla on the state line with Colorado. It was a pristinely clear day. The adobe was set against a deep blue sky with the light reflected off the snow filling in the shadows on the adobe walls. Oh and there is a partial moon up there in the left hand corner. Prints are available. Thanks for looking. G

Lobatos Bridge Crossing The Rio Grande

Lobatos Bridge shadows crossing the frozen solid Rio Grande in southern Colorado. The bridge is a favorite stopping point for making images looking upstream on the Rio Grande to the Blanca massif. The mountains are hidden in the clouds on this day. We made some shots of our shadows standing on the bridge instead. Down below in the snow drift on the ice we spotted elk and coyote tracks. Thanks for looking. G

Culvert, Adobe Shadows, San Cristobal

Culvert, with adobe shadows in the village of San Cristobal. Sometimes I take a walk through the village to pick up the mail and say “hello” to those I meet. I wave at a passing car and snap a few photos with the iPhone. I’ve been fascinated for some time with this culvert in the field of a neighbor. I’m sure the fascination with this scene will continue. Thanks for looking. G

Santa Teresita De Jesus Chapel, El prado, NM

Santa Teresita de Jesus Chapel, El prado, NM. Driving by a few weeks ago, I just had to pull over and snap this image. Here’s another image I made in the winter of 1989 that I posted it on my website on a winter’s day in March 2007 and funnily enough it looked like this today when the clouds lifted off the mountain. Bright white snow covered peaks. Thanks for looking. G

Cottonwood Shadows, Taos Mountain

Cottonwood shadows, Taos Mountain, from El Prado, NM. Another stop on the way home from the grocery store in Taos. These fields, whether winter, spring, summer, or fall, isolate and enhance our beautiful Taos Mountain. Taking time out to watch the shadows lengthen and reach out towards the mountains, draw me closer to the source of energy we sense in the valley. Thanks for looking. G
