Cottonwood and snow El Prado, Taos New Mexico. Just a few days ago. Looking out for more to come. Passing through El Prado (the meadows) there are many places to pull over with scenes like this to absorb or to take a breath of fresh air, or to make an image. Thanks for looking. G
Here are the links to some views in El Prado from the last couple of decades. Enjoy. G

Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, US Highway 64, Taos New Mexico. Morning on the Gorge Rim with the first snow on the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the bridge that gets you there, if you’re heading in that direction. Thanks for looking. G
Tree in the middle of the village of Arroyo Seco, NM. The first snowfall in the valley still lingers on the leaves of this colorful addition to the corner at the Snow Mansion in Arroyo Seco. Colors abound in northern New Mexico this fall. Thanks for looking. G
Morning aspens in the garden San Cristobal, New Mexico. Look out any window and the fall colors greet the eyes, morning, noon and evening. Thanks for looking. G
Bobcat Pass lone tree and sky. A favorite scene in northern New Mexico. This is a location where the shifting clouds form a fabulous backdrop to the tree, or when the summer moon rises directly behind it to the east. I like to stop here whenever I’m on the Enchanted Circle drive through the Moreno Valley and over Bobcat Pass. Keep looking up and thanks for looking. G

Valdez Valley winter road just north of Taos at the gateway to Taos Ski Valley. Waking up to the snow this morning did the heart good following one of the driest summers we’ve had in a number of years. This first snow, in the Taos area last night, prompted us to take a drive around some of our rural neighborhoods. Coming across this scene in the Valdez Valley was like stepping into the “living” land of enchantment! Thanks for looking. G
GMC truck on a cold and frosty fall morning at the Overland Ranch in Taos, NM. The sun busts over the Sangre de Cristo foothills filling the cab of this truck and cottonwood trees with light. The frost on the hood melted away before my eyes and the ghost of the steering wheel beckoned me to take a drive. Thanks for looking. G
Mountain meadow cottonwood, Taos NM. Here is a tree, with an arrow on Highway 64 to get your attention in case you didn’t see it. We stopped here today to make some images of this young cottonwood. I’ve been watching it for the last week. Today, it was really glowing with the mountain meadow as a backdrop. This was the second stop on a two day mini photography workshop. I love what I do, I’m very fortunate and grateful. Thanks for looking. G
Magpie nest number #2 San Cristobal NM. This is the second layer of a magpie nest that fell from the juniper tree this fall in the high winds. There are three other stages in the nest: the outer layer of large structural twigs anchoring the nest to the tree limbs; this structure, followed by a layer of decreasing twig sizes; the last layer, a structure of the tiniest twigs resembling horse hair. The eggs are laid on this final delicate structure. More photos to follow. Thanks for looking. G
