Bobcat Pass Lone Tree

Bobcat Pass lone tree and sky. A favorite scene in northern New Mexico. This is a location where the shifting clouds form a fabulous backdrop to the tree, or when the summer moon rises directly behind it to the east. I like to stop here whenever I’m on the Enchanted Circle drive through the Moreno Valley and over Bobcat Pass. Keep looking up and thanks for looking. G

Valdez Valley Winter Road

Valdez Valley winter road just north of Taos at the gateway to Taos Ski Valley. Waking up to the snow this morning did the heart good following one of the driest summers we’ve had in a number of years. This first snow, in the Taos area last night, prompted us to take a drive around some of our rural neighborhoods. Coming across this scene in the Valdez Valley was like stepping into the “living” land of enchantment! Thanks for looking. G

Fall In Valle Escondido, NM

Fall in Valle Escondido, Sangre de Cristo Mountains, NM. Well, today it snowed in the mountains. It was a lot warmer on this day last week than the cold damp this morning. I’m not really complaining, we need all the moisture we can get. But, the cold and wet was quite a shock to the system. Thanks for looking. G

Chama River, Abiquiu, New Mexico

Chama River, Abiquiu, New Mexico. Great weather for a trip out to Abiquiu on this beautiful fall day. The clouds were moving swiftly casting their dramatic shadows on the landscape. We stopped in at one of the studios on the Abiquiu Studio Tour and visited numerous familiar locations that we love. Below is one of our favorites in the village of Abiquiu. Thanks for looking. G

Hillside Aspens, Cumbres Pass

Hillside Aspens, Cumbres Pass, Colorado. It was great to see this grove of aspens at it’s peak a week ago, splendid against our stunning southwest sky. We went back a couple of days later when the leaves were more sparse. Conditions in the mountains change rapidly from day to day. Below you’ll find some links I pulled up from previous trips over the Cumbres Pass. Thanks for looking. G

Moreno Valley Corral And Clouds

Moreno Valley corral and clouds northern New Mexico. We stopped at this delightful, dilapidated corral on the Enchanted Circle drive today in the Moreno Valley. We watched the shadows of clouds and the clouds over the mountain moving swiftly across the landscape. It was a good day to stop at a location where patience truly proved to be a virtue. Thanks for looking. G

Mule Deer Afternoon In Red River, NM

Mule Deer this afternoon in Red River NM. We spotted her munching on the shrubs along the forest road. I reversed up twenty yards, thinking that she’d probably take off and vanish into the trees. She did nothing! She just kept on grazing and chewing the plants that certainly didn’t look appetizing to us, but obviously she knew something we didn’t. The fall colors are finding their way through the trees on the hillsides, a gorgeous lei on the Red River Valley. Thanks for looking. G
