Saint Francis Church, Ranchos De Taos

Saint Francis Church, Ranchos De Taos. Georgia O’Keeffe’s painting of this church and Ansel Adams photograph, along with many other pieces of art created, depicting this building, have made it one of the most famous adobe mission churches in New Mexico. I made this particular shot with three images stitched together. It came out rather interesting and somewhat distorted, accentuating the building’s organic material and shapes. I can’t recall how many images I’ve made of this building over the years. Here’s one of my favorites from the late 1980s. If you click on one of the tags below you will get to see many more. Thanks for looking. G

Blue Grosbeak, San Cristobal, NM

Blue Grosbeak, San Cristobal, NM. Two years ago a young Blue Grosbeak visited the garden, I haven’t spotted one since, until today. I have no proof it’s the same bird but I like to think it might be. He seems to know his way around the place. Thanks for looking. G

Pigeon hole, window, color of the day, pink! You know where that pigeon is heading to hideout from the storm tonight, joining a few friends in this building on the road in Cerro, NM, “gateway” to the National Monument. Thanks for looking. G

Spring Blossoms, Downtown Taos, NM

Spring blossoms, downtown Taos, NM. Spring is in full bloom and these trees in blossom are lining the streets, filling the gardens and orchards with color. We made a quick drive out today. I have to say it was a pristine spring day, one of the most glorious we’ve seen in a while. I hope your day was wonderful. Thanks for looking. G

Bighorn Sheep Ram, Orilla Verde, NM

Bighorn sheep. A young ram is ensconced up to his ears in the sage in the Orilla Verde Recreation Area. I got up close and personal with this young fellow on a drive through the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, New Mexico. I hope everyone is getting out in the fresh air when you can. Stay healthy. Thanks for looking. G

Outdoor Living, New Mexico Style

Outdoor living, “New Mexico Style” in Arroyo Blanco, Abiquiu. Following another photo shoot in the area, we happened upon this junk deposited in a dry arroyo. There is an abundance of trash dumped here by lazy people. It’s a serious issue, a blight on the otherwise stunning landscape. The only thing missing..? an empty bottle of Bud Light, the beer of choice for low lives! There’s a truckload of bud bottles in another arroyo close bye. We tried to make light of it all with this set up.  Thanks for looking. G

Peeling Earth, Plaza Blanca, New Mexico

Peeling Earth, Plaza Blanca, New Mexico. The “White Place” in Georgia O’Keeffe country, Abiquiu, New Mexico is a great place to photograph abstract earth forms. As the flash floods recede and the land dries out wonderful formations occur in the arroyos. Thanks for looking. G
