Ode to M.C. Escher
Ode to M.C. Escher, San Acacio, Colorado. Shadows and light abound. I revisited this location following a review of my images from last weekend. This time I had a concept in mind, and here is the result. Thanks for looking. G

Exquisite demise of an old friend. It felt sad when I saw that this building had collapsed. What can I say? I’ve photographed this place for almost fifteen years. I’ve had a sublime attraction to the place since the first time I saw it. I could never drive past it. I always had to stop in, and whether or not I would make an image depended on an unspoken mutual regard, much like making a portrait. When I visited last week on a photo tour, I knew I would return a few days later to pay my respects in a more fitting way and make, what for me would be, the ultimate farewell portrait. This view is only visible in it’s current state, never before. Thanks for looking. G

In the shadow of the sun at San Rafael, La Cueva, NM. Today’s photo is from the rear side of the church in yesterday’s photo of the day. I thought I would complete the experience we encountered in this beautiful location. I could post the third photo from that day of a Prairie Rattler, near this spot, that warned me to be aware, but you can see that image here on Facebook. Thanks for looking. G
Leaf Shadows in the morning on the tent wall. When I saw how nicely this image turned out, I said to myself, “I should have made a video”. The rustling leaves brushing against the tent wall made a soft swishing sound, the kind that wakes you up gently from a good nights sleep. Thanks for looking. G
Santa Fe architectural detail. When on the town in Santa Fe, New Mexico, it’s not to difficult to find more than enough scenes to fill a camera’s memory card. In fact there are some wonderful details around every corner. Discerning which images to work with is another matter. In this case, I liked the simplicity of the composition, and discarded other, more cluttered and somewhat contrived variations. This image actually turned out to be one of the first couple of frames I made. Sometimes first impressions are the best. Thanks for looking. G
The Rio Grande Gorge, Taos, New Mexico. Here is a cell phone image, of this view from the high bridge, US Route 64, over the Rio Grande Gorge. A fitting end to a photo tour today. Thanks for looking. G
Boards with shadows abstract, sans explanation, save to say the smoke from a fire west of Taos, diluting any opportunity for a gorgeous sunset this evening, found me going through the archive again. When I threw the virtual dart at the kb’s on the 2004 hard drive this image popped up! Thanks for looking. G
Bricks and Shadows “… but we decide which is right and which is an illusion”
San Felipe de Neri Church. I love finding views that I haven’t seen before like these balcony shadows at the Catholic Church on Albuquerque Old Town Plaza.
San Luis, Colorado, Shady Nook Cafe. Not that the cafe is named “shady nook’ rather it’s a cafe with a shady nook to enjoy a morning coffee. On the road this week for a five day photo tour of southern Colorado and eastern New Mexico. Thanks for looking. G
