Venus, Jupiter, Jemez Mountains

Venus, Jupiter, Jemez Mountains, and the Valle Caldera. Pulled over here this evening to watch the light fade with Venus and Jupiter setting in our trademarked blue, New Mexico sky. Look southwest tomorrow at dusk for another glimpse of this pair before Jupiter drops out of view as it gets closer to the setting sun. Also keep an eye out for a gorgeous young crescent moon. Thanks for looking. G

Moonrise, Sangre De Cristo Mountains, NM

Moonrise, Sangre De Cristo Mountains, NM. The kitchen window or the deck usually work fine for a shot of the moon. This month I had to stand in the middle of the driveway (poor me) in order to line up the tree and mountain with the moon.  I hope you got to see it from where ever you are. Thanks for looking. G

Jemez Caldera Sunset

Jemez Caldera sunset from across the plateau in Taos, New Mexico. The bold skies and landscapes of this area never cease to amaze me. Right now there is a gorgeous crescent moon suspended over the horizon. Thanks for looking. G

Black Mesa, San Ildefonso, NM

Black Mesa, San Ildefonso, NM. One of the most gorgeous iconic locations and one of so many in northern New Mexico. This location at San Ildefonso Pueblo is featured in many photographer’s portfolio. That doesn’t make it any less iconic as it is an area that is pristine and unspoiled and thank goodness. Come visit New Mexico and I’ll show you this and many more of these locations. Thanks for looking. G

Mist Rising On Taos Mountain

Mist rising on Taos Mountain. I called this one “The Reveal” as we sat and watched the mist dissolve and later turn to snow. It was a fantastic day of interactions between the weather, the land and sky, me and the camera. Thanks for looking. G

Cowboys Coming Over The Ridge

Cowboys coming over the ridge. The big sky background gives it the feel of the west, where the horizon never comes close, until you run into the Rockies. It calls out to hitch up your mules and head off into the sunset. Life with with no horizons, not such a bad view on the journey. As always, thanks for looking. G

Monte Vista NWR, Sandhill Cranes

Monte Vista NWR. Sandhill Cranes with the sun trying to break through clouds, adding a nice background drama to the evening fly in of the sandhill cranes at the wildlife refuge this week in Monte Vista, Colorado. Thanks for looking, G

Rural Southern Colorado, Ute Mountain, Barn

Rural southern Colorado, Ute Mountain, barn. Gorgeous skies and the last snow fall across the valley. Hopefully not the last snow of the winter. This was less than a week ago. Today all the snow is gone and temps were in the mid 50’s F. The ice was gone on the lake. I was standing on the same ice a week ago. Today felt like the refreshing, first day of spring. Thanks for looking. G
