Holy Trinity, Arroyo Seco, NM

Holy Trinity Church is close to my Fine Art Gallery in Arroyo Seco, NM. I often make the twenty yard stroll to see how the light looks on this historic adobe building. Sometimes it’s an intense afternoon glow under the New Mexico sun, or in this case, the belfry and branches are stark against the sky on a winter’s day. Not a problem! Tomorrow, I’ll take another stroll around the corner to see what’s happening in the neighborhood. New Mexico almost always surprises me when I least expect it. Come and visit! Thanks for looking. Tonight On Taos Mountain

Sunset on Taos Mountain and a little Sangre de Cristo. It was cold today, and the mountains were pristine. I made this image of the peaks on Taos Mountain at the last moment. I liked the low light levels as the colors got quite dense at that point, and the slight hint of blues and grays came through. Thanks for looking.

Sangre de Cristo Mountains New Mexico

The Sangre de Cristo mountains grab me every time. Today was special. The mountains seemed to occupy a secondary role in the composition, that of giving scale to the expanse of the sky. Of course, it wasn’t long before I began to look deeper in to the scene, exploring the details of the clouds and their relationship to the mountain ridges. The negative spaces created by the valleys, intrigued me even further. Those more abstract images I will keep for another day.  The initial scene made me pull over, the details kept me looking. The music that was playing, in the warm interior of the car, enhanced by the surrounding beauty of the landscape and sky increased my sense of well being today. Thanks for looking. G

Last Light On The Hills

A shaft of light cast through a narrow aperture created by a low lying cloud and the space between it and the horizon. Illuminating the peaks of the Columbine Hondo Wilderness, this familiar view from the garden in San Cristobal, is consistent in it’s continually changing drama and light.

Tree And Sky With Fence.

Tree and sky with fence. I made this image in the English Lake District on a trip there in October 2013. Every now and then I like to throw in an image I come across from past trips I’ve made whether here locally, or as in this case, further afield. Thanks for looking. G

Church in Chacon, New Mexico

Church in Chacon, northern New Mexico. Flashback to fall 2014 … you can tell by the fluffy white clouds. I found this image while perusing my hard drives for another image. It consists of four images shot top to bottom and stitched together to make a large vertical panorama. I also like that there is a door in the building, halfway to heaven. Thanks for looking!

Sunset on the Cottonwood Trees

This location has been a feature over the last month. Seems like a good way to end the year with a sunset on the cottonwood trees in El Prado, NM

Moon set from San Cristobal NM. It feels very comforting to me when I step outside in freezing temperatures and simply enjoy watching the morning moon set and know that this is the order of things…. Oh! and make an image!

Highway Across The Plateau

Highway Across The Plateau
Sometimes I just have to get out of the car and make an image of the highway ahead … where I’m going.
