Venus, Crescent Moon, San Cristobal, NM

Venus, Crescent Moon, over San Cristobal, NM. I was out on the deck three nights this week enjoying the Venus, Moon conjunction. Did you see it? The planet and moon were hidden, here in San Cristobal, earlier in the evening. When they ultimately emerged from the clouds I was suspended in time, until that is, a plane passed between the moon and my camera. You can make out the plane in the second image. Thanks for looking. Rainbow, Winter Sun Light, San Cristobal Valley

Rainbow in the winter sun light, the first I’ve seen out in the field in San Cristobal this year. Scenes like this usually show up in the summer monsoons. There happened to be a mix of rain, sleet and snow. It disappeared as quickly as it appeared. Thanks for looking. G

Lewis’s Woodpecker, San Cristobal

Lewis’s Woodpecker, a regular visitor to the garden in San Cristobal, NM. When I finally looked at the images I discovered that he wasn’t trying to retrieve a kernel or two or three from the hole in the fence post, he was drinking the snow melt water that had accumulated there. As you can see I caught the drip. I love these birds. Thanks for looking. G

Celtic Stone Cross, Last Snowfall, San Cristobal

Celtic stone cross, last snowfall, San Cristobal, NM. I like it’s shoulder pads and helmet. I think it looks like a samurai, ready to face all comers. Solid in all conditions. I like the warm glow on the stone. I really like Celtic Crosses… Ok! I’m rambling. Thanks for looking. G

Cottonwoods, Aspens, Mountains, San Cristobal Valley

Cottonwoods, Aspens, Mountains, San Cristobal Valley. It’s all about the light and I like to focus on any scene that lives up to that phrase. Here in northern New Mexico the light is everything. This scene I’ve photographed many times always catches my eye as I drive by on my way home. Thanks for looking. G

Little House, San Cristobal, Mountains

Little white house, in the pasture, San Cristobal, NM. There were snow covered mountain peaks when the clouds cleared today. Pristine skies overhead. I just think, sometimes, how many days like these this homestead and it’s occupants have experienced. However many that is, the days and lives come and go in the valley, if only the mountains could talk. Thanks for looking. G
