March along the Rio Chama in Abiquiu, New Mexico. During this self imposed quarantine I’m touring the archives. I’m going slow, pedaling my virtual bicycle, savoring moments in images made over the last few years. Outdoor living, “New Mexico Style” in Arroyo Blanco, Abiquiu. Following another photo shoot in the area, we happened upon this junk deposited in a dry arroyo. There is an abundance of trash dumped here by lazy people. It’s a serious issue, a blight on the otherwise stunning landscape. The only thing missing..? an empty bottle of Bud Light, the beer of choice for low lives! There’s a truckload of bud bottles in another arroyo close bye. We tried to make light of it all with this set up. Thanks for looking. G
On location, in Arroyo Blanco, the Rio Grande Gorge Rim and San Cristobal, New Mexico. This is the latest photo shoot in collaboration with Tres Estrellas Design of Taos to recreate a glimpse of their exquisite textiles, in historical context, within the familiar landscape of New Mexico we all know today. Peeling Earth, Plaza Blanca, New Mexico. The “White Place” in Georgia O’Keeffe country, Abiquiu, New Mexico is a great place to photograph abstract earth forms. As the flash floods recede and the land dries out wonderful formations occur in the arroyos. Thanks for looking. G
Rio Chama Bosque, Cerrito Blanco, Abiquiu, NM. In the bosque (woods) along the Rio Chama. It’s a beautiful location and I feel unencumbered, yet cloistered by the arching trees. Their branches bend and bow in all directions, creating a natural cathedral like feeling. Hmm… think I’ll stay here awhile. I made this image on December 29, 2017. It doesn’t look like it but it was quite cold this day, but not as cold as it’s going to be here in San Cristobal on December 29, 2019. We’re expecting -2º rising to about 22º for a high. Brrrr! Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, New Mexico. The landscape out here is mind blowing. It blew Georgia O’Keeffe’s mind and changed her life and many other artists before and after her. It changed my life from the first time I set eyes on this landscape 35 years ago. Thanks for looking. G

Cabin, Ghost Ranch, Cerro Pedernal. The cabin at Ghost Ranch, (Curly’s Cabin) from the movie “City Slickers” where the door is almost always open and the porch is a cool relief from summer temps. Thanks for looking. G
Winding Road, Rio Chama, NM. Not so long and only a little bit winding, but look where it draws your view. One of my favorite locations, and views, enhanced by a dark sky, full of potential thunderstorms. Thanks for looking. G
Rio Chama road, off the beaten path in Abiquiu, New Mexico. A quick trip to the red and honey colored rock country in the Chama River Canyon yesterday. The temps were in the mid nineties, exceedingly hot and dry! It was great fun to spend time with my son, listening to his story telling, surrounded by gorgeous scenery and good company.
