Aspens on the High Road to Taos in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. I superimposed the aspens image I found in a grove, with a close up of stains on a window of an abandoned building. It reminded me of a close up of the aspen bark itself. I like it. What do you think? Thanks for looking. G
Ghost Chair, Shadows, San Luis Valley Homestead. Met the owner of this place who was very generous to let me photograph in here. Someone has ripped out the copper pipe and wiring in the house, so it felt good to build a rapport with the owner. Anyway, goodness knows what the ghosts think of the looters who come in the night. Taos Volcanic Field Sunset. A momentary glimpse of the sunset. A moment and it was gone. Then the hail came and whitened the land. Overnight it turned to hoar frost. By breakfast it was gone and by noon it made it into the low fifties. Spring is a misnomer … spring would be better referred to as “changeling” a season of change, as nothing is sprung as of yet! Cowboys coming over the ridge. The big sky background gives it the feel of the west, where the horizon never comes close, until you run into the Rockies. It calls out to hitch up your mules and head off into the sunset. Life with with no horizons, not such a bad view on the journey. As always, thanks for looking. G
Winter corral fence, on the Taos Plateau. A quick flash back to a place I stopped in at a dozen times this winter near San Antonio Mountain. Not the biggest snow fall but one of the prettiest. Thanks for looking. G
American Kestrel, highway hunting during the last snow storm. This little creature didn’t let the weather deter it. The weather would be to its advantage and the weather probably didn’t even come into account. This American Kestrel’s nature comes from the same place as the snow. Thanks for looking. G
RGB, Red, Green, Blue, “Colt Restaurant” Trinidad, Colorado. I don’t know the history of this sign except that it is parked in the side lot of an antique shop, closed due to boiler trouble. RGB, the colors of Trinidad, a city just over the border from New Mexico in Colorado. Thanks for looking. G
Red, yellow, downtown Trinidad, Colorado. Made a trip around the block, a long block, a three hundred mile block! Stopped into the town of Trinidad and made a few images of the local “decor”. It would be easy to fill a few memory cards of images here with all the primary colors including plenty of red and yellow. Thanks for looking. G
Coyote Watches, at the Rio Pueblo, in the Orilla Verde RA, NM. Today we were down on the banks of the Rio Pueblo, amongst the red willows, photographing fast flowing water. I was very surprised to look up at one point and discover we were being watched by this gorgeous coyote. It stayed where it was, not moving, during the photo session only varying its gaze to the left and right. We surmised that it had a den very near, possibly with young pups. It kept watching until we left. We felt very privileged to be party to this moment in nature, watching… as coyote watches us . Thanks for looking. G
Cedar Waxwing, downtown Taos, New Mexico. Foraging around the Russian Olive trees between Mickey D’s and Ace Hardware. Maybe three of them and a few Robins.
