Moonrise this evening over the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, San Cristobal, NM. I got this quick shot out of the dining room window as the waxing moon was served up in a gorgeous pink sky. I served up a pot of green chile chicken stew, a perfect accompaniment to a cold fall evening. Thanks for looking. G
Amish horse-drawn buggy, Monte Vista, Colorado. I added the old photo effect bringing a dated look to the shot thats mirrors the old ways. We heard the horse and buggy coming before we could see it. Can you see the swaddled baby reaching for the reins as Mom holds her safely around the waist. Here’s a little blurb on the Amish in the San Luis Valley. Thanks for looking. G
Red Barn, in black and white with an unusual cloud, Capulin, Colorado. Yes, the barn is red. I like the toned black and white in this photo with that cloud that wafted across the San Luis Valley. We are hunkering down today with 18 inches of snow and still coming. Thanks for looking. G
Sunflower, all it’s sunny fires out but standing tall in the Taos Valley wetlands. I particularly like sunflowers in their decay as much as I do when they herald the beginning of August lining the highways and byways of northern New Mexico. Here, in this photo, they usher in the early throes of winter while maintaining a continuous golden glow. Snow on it’s way over the next few days. Stay warm where you are and thanks for looking. G
Autumn Trio, Rio Fernando Park, Taos, New Mexico. I found some pleasing sights on a walk this morning through the park and wetlands. It was most enjoyable focusing my lens on the simpler compositions. Thanks for looking. G
Riparian habitat, Bosque Del Apache NWR, New Mexico. Riparian habitat excites me and there’s plenty of it along the Rio Grande. This time of year the reserve awaits the return of the Sandhill Cranes. The Snow Geese will join them soon and the skies will be filled with primordial calls and the sound of wings beating, a joy to hear and see. Thanks for looking. G
Sandhill Cranes, formation flying over the Monte Vista NWR in Colorado. Popped up here yesterday for a look-see. There are a few thousand Sandhill Cranes in the refuge. Though, after this initial bombardment, we didn’t see them much but we could hear them plenty. Thanks for looking. G
Fall Color in the San Cristobal Valley, northern New Mexico. This is the valley where we live and a scene we look at every time we go south to town. On this occasion, I squeezed over on the shoulder to get this photo, dodging disturbing the powdery rabbitbrush that makes me sneeze. I just had a sneezing fit looking at this photo. I hope you don’t get an allergic reaction when looking. Thanks for checking in. G

Ute Mountain with the red barn and crescent moon in the San Luis Valley, Colorado. I headed north to the state line and into Colorado yesterday evening. The sun and moon were setting as I drove forty-five minutes for a shoot at the dilapidated barn. Flocks of crows went where ever crows go at night and owls took up their nightly vigil in the cottonwood snags. The holes in the barn let the dusk and moonlight in. A few stray critters dodged my tires as I ran over their tracks in the twilight. Thanks for looking. G
