Chevy Truck, Las Vegas, New Mexico

Chevy Truck, Las Vegas, New Mexico. Perfect pastel colors just across the street from the restored Castaneda Hotel a former Fred Harvey House. This was about the only action to be seen yesterday, the unloading a period refrigerator, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The Bar Castaneda, at the hotel, serves a nice pint and good food. Anyone know the year of this truck? Ron, Mark? Thanks for looking. G

Rainbow, Highway, Taos Valley, New Mexico

Rainbow, Highway, Taos Valley, New Mexico. Highway 522 runs from Taos to the Colorado, state line. I was heading home after a day in Las Vegas, NM, sitting on a couple of different benches around town, chatting about photography and a hundred other subjects, with good friend R. David Marks. In this image I’m looking south towards Taos. After spotting the rainbow in my rear view mirror I pulled over and shot this. There is a confusion of light rays dashing every which way. I don’t mind. Thanks for looking. G

Hairy Woodpecker, San Cristobal, NM

Hairy Woodpecker, San Cristobal, NM. Apparently these fellow earth dwellers are destroyers of trees. They have stripped the bark off the limbs on an old growth Juniper tree, making short work of it. Today I noticed they’d enlisted the help of the kids to pitch in as well. Such little buggers. I have to believe there is method in their natural world. Thanks for looking. G

Ute Mountain Road, Northern New Mexico. I pulled over here a couple of evenings ago for a cup of tea and to watch the rain move through the area after a day on the road photographing around northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. It was a beautiful day that ended nicely. Thanks to my friend Larry and thank you for looking. G

Mural, San Luis, Colorado

Mural, San Luis, Colorado. Stopped in to San Luis this morning. The town is reputed to be the “Oldest Town” in Colorado, it says so on a sign! I wont dispute that fact. It was fun to hoof it around the little town, with my friend Larry and make some images. I liked this non-political mural and the shadows from the latilla/coyote fence, constructed from young aspens, juxtaposed with the diagonal field furrows. Thanks for looking. G
